Guide chapters14 chapters

Phantom Blade Zero has a 564-entry collectible checklist, but the checklist is not one flat list. It is 11 categories that feed different systems: bells for travel, flowers and shards for stats, weapons for combat, and treasures for side quests. This guide explains the system, how the game tracks it, and what to prioritize, so you can use the checklist instead of drowning in it.

At a glance

  • 564 checklist entries across 11 categories, by the 100 percent checklist count.

  • Three upgrade currencies matter most: Memory Flowers, Sha-Chi Ambers, Blackstones.

  • No in-game total percentage screen has been confirmed; tracking is per region and per category.

  • This is a system guide, not a 564-point location map; it tells you what each category does and where the traps are.

Quick answer

  • Touch every bell you pass: bells are checkpoints, fast travel, and ability training in one.

  • Pick up every Memory Flower group, Amber shard, and Blackstone shard: they feed the ability tree and the stat achievements.

  • Do not trust a Pangzhen tracker at 100 percent until you have also cleared Mirage Estate; the two share one tracker.

1. The 564, by category

The 564 figure is a checklist-entry count from a 100 percent guide, not an official inventory total. It counts 161 bells, 42 weapon and Edge entries, 80 accessory and medicine entries, 13 challenge locations, 40 Sha-Chi Amber shards, 40 Blackstone shards, 129 Memory Flower groups, 43 Tempering materials, and 16 treasures, plus 30 Side Tales. Read it as the shape of the checklist, not as a promise that the game contains exactly that many distinct items.

2. How the game tracks it

There is tracking, but it is not a single completion percentage. What multiple guides confirm is a set of four tools, and one third-party tool that is not in the game.

  • Map tracker: each region map counts completions per category (bells, weapons and Edges, accessories and medicines, challenges, Ambers, Blackstones, Memory Flowers, treasures, Tales, Tempering materials) and shows that region completion.

  • Archive: Books (book pages) and Gallery (enemies, bosses, and NPCs recorded on first encounter or defeat) fill in as you play.

  • Journal: Story, Tales, and Collectibles pages. Purple Mysteries sit inside the Story page under a purple icon, and failed side quests turn red.

  • Tool-door markers: paths that need a specific Phantom Edge are marked on the map automatically, and the mark turns green once you hold that Edge.

  • Not in the game: any one-screen total percentage or one-button missing-item finder. A Chinese companion app with binding queries is a third-party tool, not a game feature, so do not describe it as one.

3. Region notes and the Pangzhen trap

The biggest tracking trap is Pangzhen. Pangzhen and Mirage Estate share one map tracker, but their Archive entries count separately. On a first visit to south Pangzhen, the tracker cannot reach 100 percent; the rest fills in at Mirage Estate. Do not grind south Pangzhen looking for entries that are not there yet.

  • Weeping Creek Valley: 23 bells, 7 weapon and Edge entries, 11 accessory and medicine entries, 1 challenge, 4 Ambers, 4 Blackstones, 1 Memory Flower group.

  • Crimson Forest: 19 bells, 6 weapon and Edge entries, 14 accessory and medicine entries, 2 challenges, 6 Ambers, 6 Blackstones, 18 Memory Flower groups, 3 treasures.

  • Pangzhen plus Mirage Estate (shared tracker): 42 bells, 10 weapon and Edge entries, 22 accessory and medicine entries, 3 challenges, 12 Ambers, 12 Blackstones, 33 Memory Flower groups, 7 treasures, 8 Tales, 12 Tempering materials.

  • Meigu Lake: 22 bells, 4 challenges, 6 Ambers, 6 Blackstones, 30 Memory Flower groups, 3 treasures; 99 checklist entries on that region page.

  • Other regions (Mandate Encampment, Mountain of Imprisonment, Mount Soulrend) have their own region pages; because per-region counts and the 564 total come from different table cuts, do not reverse-engineer one from the other.

4. How the categories feed each other

Think of two layers. Weapons and Edges are the reward layer: almost all of them come from boss drops, which is why the boss guide is the companion piece to this one. Ambers, Blackstones, Memory Flowers, Tempering materials, and accessories are the upgrade layer: they raise the Sha-Chi cap, damage, and health, unlock ability-tree nodes, and feed Tempering. The ability tree itself has 32 nodes, trained at bells with Remnant Dust, with a full refund on reset.

Accessories deserve one caution: some are whole pickups and some are fragment syntheses, such as a jar that needs 2 fragments or a medicine pot that needs

4. Do not write a fragment accessory off as missing when you hold one of its fragments.

5. Books: the single-source corner

Books are the one category carried by a single source: one guide lists 21 books totaling about 202 pages, from The Order (9 pages) and Reflections (18) down to The Mirage Estate Past (4). No separate book trophy has been confirmed, and a competing claim of 142 pages plus a Master Archivist achievement does not match the official trophy list, so it is not used here. Treat the 21-book figure as single-source whenever you cite it.

6. Priorities: what to grab first

  • Bells first, always: every bell is travel, a checkpoint, and a training point at once.

  • Flower groups, Amber shards, and Blackstone shards second: they are the permanent stat gains and the ability-tree gates.

  • Boss weapons third, in story order: they are the combat rewards, and they cannot be farmed later in the same cycle.

  • Treasures and Tales as you meet them: Quick Hand Zhang appears once per region, and Tales quests are the missable layer.

  • Books last: lore only, no confirmed trophy, and fully collectible after the story.

FAQ

Is 564 the exact number of distinct items in the game?

No. It is a checklist-entry count from a 100 percent guide, and one guide that repeats the list notes the same caveat. Use it as the shape of the checklist, not as an official inventory total.

Why is my Pangzhen tracker stuck below 100 percent?

Because Pangzhen and Mirage Estate share one tracker. The remaining entries fill in at Mirage Estate; south Pangzhen alone cannot reach 100 percent.

Which collectibles are missable?

Almost none of the ordinary pickups: after the story you can roam and collect them. The missable layer is Tales side quests, not the pickup categories.

Do I need all 129 Memory Flower groups for the achievement?

No. The flower achievement asks for 10 complete flowers, and the ability tree uses flowers as one of several gates. The 129 groups are the full checklist, not the achievement requirement.
