This is part one of a two-part achievement guide, covering the survival, combat, and horde achievements in 7 Days to Die. Instead of a single giant table, each achievement below gets its own how-to, so you can chase one at a time while you play. Note that the achievement list used here follows community-tracked achievement names and thresholds; the current Steam list should be checked in-game, because older tracking pages describe the Windows version and may not match the Steam set exactly. There is no boss achievement in this game, because there are no bosses: the combat milestones are about kills, survival time, and gamestage.
First steps: the survival firsts
The Homestead Act unlocks when you place your first Land Claim Block, so claim your first base site as soon as you have a spot worth defending rather than wandering with your bedroll in your pocket. Handy Man unlocks when you craft your first wood frame, and Cause he is the Ax Man unlocks when you craft your first stone axe: both happen naturally in the first hour if you follow the opening crafting steps instead of skipping them. Good in the sack unlocks when you place your first sleeping bag, old bed, or king sized bed, so place a bedroll the moment you stop for the night instead of treating it as optional.
Playing Doctor unlocks when you stop a critical bleed-out with a bandage, a first aid bandage, or a first aid kit. Do not farm this deliberately by hurting yourself; play normally, keep bandages on your belt, and use one the first time a deep wound starts draining you. The achievement rewards the habit every survivor needs anyway: bleeding out while you search your backpack for a bandage is one of the most avoidable deaths in the game.
Kill counts: from Grave Digger to Funeral Director
The Grave Digger unlocks at 10 zombie kills, The Embalmer at 100, and The Funeral Director at 2,500. The gap between 100 and 2,500 is the real grind, and the honest way to close it is horde nights plus trader Clear jobs, not wandering the forest looking for stragglers. A single horde night at a good funnel can produce dozens of kills, and a tier 4 or tier 5 Clear job in a large building can produce more in one run than a whole day of roaming. Use melee on ordinary zombies to save ammo for the kills that actually need a gun, and let traps do the counting during horde nights.
Intermediate kill tiers between 100 and 2,500 appear in some older tracking lists but are not confirmed here as a complete ladder, so do not plan your grind around a tier you have not seen in your own achievement list. If your in-game list shows a middle tier, it will fall out of the same routine: horde nights, clears, and infestation jobs. The only wrong way to chase kill achievements is to stand in the open fighting one zombie at a time when a funnel would have killed twenty.
Deaths, on purpose and by accident
Bite the dust unlocks when you die once, Knock em Dead at 7 deaths, Your Number's Up at 14, and Meet Your Maker at
28. These are the only achievements most players will unlock without trying, because a long playthrough produces deaths on its own. If you are chasing them deliberately, the clean way is to let a late-game character die in a controlled situation, for example by jumping from a height you know is fatal after storing your gear, rather than throwing away a geared character in a horde fight. Deaths count per character progression, so a throwaway early death and a late-game death are not the same investment; plan accordingly.
Player versus player: the two achievements you cannot earn alone
Napoleon unlocks when you kill another player, and Julius Caesar when you kill 5 other players. These are the only achievements in this part that require multiplayer and a player-versus-player setting, and they cannot be earned in a solo world. If you play solo only, skip them without guilt; no solo route exists. If you play on a PvP server, agree the rules with the other players first, because farming strangers for an achievement is a fast way to get banned from a community server. A private server with friends, where everyone consents, is the sensible place to finish both.
Surviving the clock: time and gamestage milestones
Brush with Death unlocks after surviving 60 minutes in a single game, Near Death Experience after 180 minutes, Cheated Death after 600 minutes, and Nearly Immortal after 1,680 minutes. These count time survived in one game, so they reward long, stable playthroughs rather than restarts. The practical tip is to protect your save: keep a home base with food, water, and a bedroll, and do not take wild risks in the first hour of a run you intend to keep, because an early death resets the clock you are building.
Scavenger unlocks at gamestage 10, Adventurer at 25, Warrior at 100, and Survivalist at
200. Gamestage rises as your character levels, kills, and survives days, so these milestones arrive on their own if you keep playing and keep your character alive. Alive and Kicking, reaching level 4 in Fortitude, is the attribute milestone in this group: invest in Fortitude early if you want it soon, since attribute levels come from skill points earned by leveling, and Fortitude also supports health and stamina recovery that help every other achievement here.
The riddle achievements and the ones to verify
Evil Knievel, described only as a joke about not having a leg to stand on, is widely reported to relate to breaking a leg, but its exact trigger is not confirmed here, so treat that as a community report rather than a verified how-to. On top of the world and Dig Deep are riddle-style descriptions whose exact unlock conditions are likewise unverified in the sources used for this guide: one suggests height, the other depth, but guessing the exact thresholds would be inventing facts. Check your in-game achievement descriptions for these three, and chase them only when the game itself tells you what it wants.
Fastest early wins: Land Claim, wood frame, stone axe, bedroll, and first bandage use.
Best kill farm: horde nights at a funnel base, then trader Clear and Infestation jobs.
Do not chase alone: Napoleon and Julius Caesar need PvP multiplayer.
Verify in-game: Evil Knievel, On top of the world, and Dig Deep before grinding them.
