Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World Synthesis Guide (Demo): How Synthesis and Quick Scouting Work

Synthesis is the heart of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World. It fuses two monsters into a new one, and the free demo already lets you try it. This guide explains how synthesis works in the demo, what Quick Scouting has to do with it, and which of your results can move into the full game. Everything here is written from the demo and official sources. The full synthesis chart comes after the December 3, 2026 release.

What synthesis is

Synthesis takes two monsters you own and combines them into a single new monster. It is how you reach monsters you cannot scout directly, and it is one of the three systems the demo is built around, next to Quick Scouting and Joint Battles. In the demo you can already use it, but the pool you work from is small: only G-rank and F-rank monsters can be scouted.

How to use synthesis in the demo

  • Scout first. Every fusion starts with monsters you recruited, and in the demo those are G-rank and F-rank only.

  • Pick two monsters to fuse. The result is a new monster, not an upgrade of either parent.

  • Try combinations while the demo lasts. It ends at the Witherwood event, and experimenting now teaches you the system before the full game.

  • Remember the transfer cap: only up to 8 monsters move to the full game, at level 1 with default talents. Keep your best synthesis results in mind when you choose which 8 to carry over.

Quick Scouting and synthesis

Quick Scouting and synthesis feed each other. Quick Scouting recruits monsters faster, which gives you more material to fuse; synthesis turns that material into monsters scouting alone cannot give you. In the demo, where the scouting pool is only G-rank and F-rank, that loop is the main way to grow your party before the Witherwood event ends the demo.

What transfers to the full game

  • Up to 8 monsters carry over to the full game.

  • Same platform and same account required.

  • Transferred monsters return to level 1 with default talents.

  • Finish the demo for the Wrangler's Bundle: Ring of Impulse x1, Bonus Ball x1, Smoked Sirloin x5.

What we do not cover yet

The full synthesis chart, higher-rank monsters, and recipes that need monsters past the Witherwood event are not in the demo and not in this guide. We will publish the complete synthesis guide after the December 3, 2026 release.
