The first 20 tasks each day receive a bonus. Here is how to handle item requests, pet purchases and each type of fight.
- Skip overpriced equipment, tier-3 medicine or furniture. Reaching task 10 is no reason to overpay.
- Check the pet's species, then its attributes or element. Sellers can rename pets. Never pay based on the name alone.
- Keep your fellow disciple alive in rescues; keep the monster alive when subduing it. Turn off auto-battle for both tasks.
Getting started
At level 20, after joining a school, speak to your master and choose Tasks (任务). Start with the first 20 tasks each day. Their school-task bonus is separate from double rewards and refinement time; you do not need to claim either.
Swipe horizontally to view all columns.
| Your level | Available tasks |
|---|---|
Levels 20–39 | Deliver letters, fetch items and patrol |
Levels 40–69 | Fetch items, patrol and bring pets |
Levels 70–99 | Fetch items, bring pets and demonstrate your school's strength |
Level 100 until Transcendence | Fetch items, bring pets, demonstrate, rescue and subdue |
After Transcendence (渡劫) | Fetch items, bring pets, challenge a chief disciple, deal with troublemakers and expose spies |
Restore your character's and pet's HP before leaving. Bring travel items and a way back to your school. Leave inventory space; pet purchases also require an empty pet slot.
At level 40 or above, storing too much experience can prevent you from accepting tasks. Read the refusal message before spending experience on skills or leveling up. If you are deliberately staying at a level bracket, do not level up accidentally just to accept a task.
When to abandon an expensive request
Quick navigation2 entries
Cancel with your master
Run a normal escort while waiting
Cancellation resets your current chain to task
1. Rewards already collected are not taken back. Use the day's completion record to count finished tasks; after cancellations, counting task-10 rewards alone will be misleading.
If your master's dialogue offers a Good and Evil Point substitute, you can spend points you already have. Check the deduction first. If you do not have enough, abandon the task normally.
Buying requested items
Equipment
Medicine
High-quality tier-3 medicine adds money before Transcendence and experience afterward. Read the current dialogue for the required quality threshold.

Buying a task pet
Quick navigation2 entries
Visit the Chang'an marketplace
Identify the species; ignore misleading names
Levels 40–69 usually require only the species. From level 70 until Transcendence, a particular attribute may also be required. After Transcendence, tasks can specify an element. Buy for the current request, not the previous one.
Check these five base attributes
Swipe horizontally to view all columns.
| Task wording | Required attribute |
|---|---|
身强体壮 — strong physique | Constitution (体质) |
法力高深 — powerful magic | Magic (魔力) |
武力超群 — exceptional might | Strength (力量) |
刀枪不入 — resistant to blades | Endurance (耐力) |
身手敏捷 — nimble movement | Agility (敏捷) |
Quick navigation3 entries
Check the pet's own element
Check the element in the pet's own details: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire or Earth (金、木、水、火、土), as requested.
Pets with the same appearance and name can have different elements. Pet-equipment elements, the owner's school and spell names do not count.
Check the price and hand in the pet
You can catch one yourself
Find the species' habitat in the encyclopedia → check its carrying level and your empty slots → enter a battle there.
Choose Capture (捕捉) for your character and Defend for your pet. Do not kill the target with area spells or combo attacks.
After catching it, still check the attribute or element. Return only when it qualifies. Skill books, leveling and aptitude food are unnecessary.
Letters, patrols, demonstrations and rescues

Patrol: win two fights

Rescue: the disciple must survive
The disciple usually uses a character appearance eligible for that school. Donghaiyuan disciples can appear as a Giant Turtle, Giant Frog or Sea Caterpillar (大海龟、巨蛙、海毛虫). Do not overlook them.
Subduing a monster with a Qiankun Bag
Quick navigation4 entries
Buy a Qiankun Bag first
Subdue tasks appear from level 100 until Transcendence and have a 40-minute limit. You cannot enter the task battle without a Qiankun Bag (乾坤袋).
Buy one from Luo Daoren (罗道人) beside Chang'an's courier station, the wandering merchant Su Mengmeng, or level-5 仙灵店铺. Su Mengmeng's locations are listed under Equipment above.
Take the bag to the task's map and coordinates. In battle, select it under Items (物品). Do not use the normal Capture command.
Use two rounds until you know your damage
Round 1: lower the monster's HP with one predictable character attack while the pet defends, or one pet attack while the character defends. Let only one side attack.
Round 2: use the bag on the monster while the pet keeps defending.
If it fails, keep using the bag when the monster is already low. If it still has plenty of HP, lower it a little more. Do not have both your character and a high-combo pet attack together.
Try a one-round capture once damage is predictable
Have the pet attack first and your character use the bag afterward. This requires the pet to be reliably faster and unable to knock out the target in one hit.
Combo attacks, critical hits and spell criticals can kill it by accident. If that is your only pet, let it defend and lower HP with your character instead.
If the pet only sometimes moves first, keep using two rounds. Damage thresholds cannot be copied unchanged across levels and cultivation values.
Accidental kills and lost bags
If you kill it accidentally, it respawns elsewhere on the same quest map. Check that the task remains active and has not expired, then search again.
If you discard the bag after a successful subdue, the task has already recorded success. Buy another bag for the hand-in; you do not need to fight again.
Turn off auto-battle before the next attempt. Return to your school after success.
Battles after Transcendence
Completing Transcendence removes rescue and subdue requests and adds troublemaker and spy tasks. Demonstrations become chief-disciple challenges. Reaching level 155 without completing Transcendence still uses the earlier task pool.
Quick navigation3 entries
School troublemakers
Find the troublemaker at the school location specified by the task. Each school has three fixed task spots; use the one named in this request.
Enemies use robber, gambler, bandit or guard appearances and only normal attacks. Focus them down with your character and pet, then return to your master.
The limit is 40 minutes. A troublemaker at another spot is not necessarily your target.
School spies
Find the NPC at the task's map and coordinates within 40 minutes.
The main enemy mainly uses normal attacks; followers use their own spells. With modest gear, focus the dangerous caster first and seal another enemy if your school can.
When HP is tight, have one side recover while the other keeps attacking the same target. Do not scatter damage by switching both targets.
Chief-disciple challenges
Find the chief disciple of the specified school. The chief and guardians use that school's spells; do not treat this like an ordinary auto-battle demonstration.
Against seals: control the sealing enemy first so your character and pet do not both lose turns.
Against healing: focus one target until it falls, then switch.
Against high burst damage: keep your character alive. Support schools can heal or control while an attack pet deals damage. If the pet falls, stabilize before summoning a replacement.
Rewards and completion records
Each completion gives experience and money. A participating pet can gain battle experience.
Chains contain 10 tasks. School contribution starts at task 6; task 10 may award an item.
The first 20 tasks each day receive the school-task bonus. The daily count resets at midnight. Double rewards and refinement time do not affect it.
Weekly and monthly rewards: after 10 completed chains in a week or 40 in a month, check your master's claim option.
You can exchange 300 school contribution for one random gift. Reserve enough first if you still need school titles or school artifacts.
For a daily routine, finish the first 20 tasks. At level 100 or above, tasks 61–120 give half the money, and task 121 onward gives none. Hand in any completed task before stopping; winning its battle alone does not collect the reward.
On servers open for at least one year, level-20–39 characters receive the low-level triple bonus for their first 20 tasks.
