over the hill has 62 achievements. This guide lists every one of them — official name, official description, and the share of players who had unlocked it as of October 24, 2026 — grouped by the system it belongs to, so you can see at a glance which ones come from just playing, which ones ask for a plan, and which ones are the long tail. The six hidden achievements are listed by name and unlock rate only: the game gives them no description, and this guide does not guess how they unlock.
Quick answer
62 achievements in total: 56 carry an official description, and 6 are hidden by design.
The first steps come from ordinary play — tutorial, first trail, first cosmetic, first recovery — and 60–80% of players already have them.
Pebbles come in three tiers: 100, 1,000 and 2,000 collected.
The rarest end is the completion ladder: region passports (Canada 3.4%, Algeria 0.4%) and the wildlife compendium tier (0.5–1.2%).
Nothing in this guide needs a price, a location table, or a guessed method — see the notes on hidden achievements.

How to read the unlock rates
Each percentage is the share of all over the hill players on Steam who had unlocked that achievement when the data was pulled on October 24,
2026. Percentages move as more players play, so treat them as a snapshot of launch-week progress, not a fixed difficulty rating. A rate of 0.0% means fewer than 0.05% of players, because Steam reports one decimal place — not literally zero players. Where this guide groups achievements, the grouping is editorial: the official names and descriptions are quoted, the route advice is ours.
1. First steps: the tutorial and the firsts
These are the achievements most players earn without trying. Finish the tutorial, drive a trail, equip a cosmetic, recover a vehicle, discover viewpoints — the game hands them out as it teaches itself. If you are missing any of these, you are still in the opening hours, and the beginner guide covers the systems behind them.

2. Driving, recovery and vehicles
This is the working middle of the list: systems you use on every drive, stretched into goals. Music on or off for 10 km, a clean trail, a rollover recovery, a winch pull out of deep water, a first meteorite, a first vehicle fleet. None of these needs a guide of its own — they accumulate while you learn the map — but the vehicle and upgrade guides explain the systems behind Collector, Fleet Owner and Master Mechanic.

3. Distance, weather and terrain
The odometer achievements. They reward time in the world rather than skill: night driving, rain driving, snow, sand, mud, water, and the long totals of 100 km and 1,000 km. Drive with a destination and they arrive on their own; chase them directly and they feel like the grind they are. The 1,000 km achievement sits at 0.0% in launch week — the rarest number on this list, and the honest reason most completion runs end here.

4. Photography and the wildlife compendium
Photography is the game’s second system, and the compendium is its longest chase. The photo achievements sketch a curriculum: a first animal, a nocturnal animal, a rare animal, a mammal photographed from under 10 meters, a legendary animal, twenty photos. The compendium tier at the bottom — photographing 20 animals, completing a region’s compendium, photographing at least 5 bird species — sits at 0.5–1.2% in launch week, making it one of the rarest completion pursuits in the game. How registration works, how to read habitats, and how to shoot golden hour and night are covered in full in the wildlife and photo guide — this list does not repeat that how-to.

Say Cheese! | Photograph your first animal. | 63.6% |
Night Watcher | Photograph a nocturnal animal. | 34.9% |

Naturalist | Complete a region's wildlife compendium. | 1.2% |
Wildlife Enthusiast | Photograph 20 animals. | 0.7% |
Birdwatcher | Photograph at least 5 bird species. | 0.5% |
5. Pebbles, meteorites and crates
Pebbles are the game’s currency, and the achievement tiers mark how much of it you have handled: 100, then 1,000, then 2,000. Meteorites run the same arc: extract one, spot one falling, grab one within five minutes of impact, collect twenty. Crates sit alongside at 50 opened. Finding, hauling and spending are covered in the meteorites and Pebbles guide — here the point is the shape: the first tier is an opening-hour achievement at 77.6%, the top tier is a completion-run achievement at 4.6%. This guide gives no upgrade prices: no reliable source publishes them.

|---|---|---|
A Handful of Pebbles | Collect 100 pebbles. | 77.6% |
Shiny Rock | Extract your first meteorite. | 47.5% |
A Sack of Pebbles | Collect 1,000 pebbles. | 18.5% |
Wish Upon a Star | Spot a falling meteorite. | 9.6% |
Treasure Hunter | Open 50 crates. | 5.6% |
A Gift from the Stars | Collect a meteorite within 5 minutes of its impact. | 4.6% |
A Mountain of Pebbles | Collect 2,000 pebbles. | 4.6% |
Star Collector | Collect 20 meteorites. | 1.2% |
6. Region completion: the passports
Two achievements ask for everything: complete everything in Canada, and complete everything in Algeria. Canada sits at 3.4% in launch week; Algeria, the later region, at 0.4%. These are the natural end of a completion run — they do not need a separate plan, they need the rest of the list finished first. The region guides cover the routes; this guide does not reproduce their location tables.

|---|---|---|
Canadian Passport | Complete everything in Canada. | 3.4% |
Algerian Passport | Complete everything in Algeria. | 0.4% |
7. Playing together
One achievement most naturally happens with another player: towing another vehicle for 1,000 meters. The official description does not name co-op, and this guide does not add a requirement the description does not state — but a co-op session is the natural setting, and the co-op guide covers how shared progress works.

Nobody Left Behind | Tow another vehicle for 1,000 meters. | 8.1% |
8. Hidden achievements: names and rates only
Six achievements are hidden in the game’s own data: they have an official name and a global unlock rate, but no official description. That is not missing data to fill in — it is the design. Their rates alone say something useful: one of them is an opening-hour achievement at 69.0%, two sit near the middle at 50.9% and 47.1%, and the other three are genuine endgame at 8.8%, 1.9% and 1.7%. What they ask for is not stated anywhere reliable, and this guide leaves it there.

9. A route that respects the grind
Play the game first and the list mostly takes care of itself. The first two sections arrive with the tutorial, the trails and the first vehicles. Keep the camera out on every drive — the photography ladder and the compendium are the longest chase, and they punish starting late more than any other group. Treat Pebbles and meteorites as a side income, not a destination: the 2,000-pebble and 20-meteorite tiers arrive if you keep hauling. Save the passports for last, because they ask for everything else anyway, and save the distance totals for the drives between everything else. Cabins are the time controls: use them to set up a sunrise, a sunset, or a night drive rather than waiting for the sky.
First: play naturally through the tutorial, trails and first vehicles — sections 1 and 2.
Alongside: keep the camera out on every drive — the compendium punishes a late start.
In the background: haul Pebbles and meteorites as side income toward the 2,000 and 20 tiers.
Last: passports, then the distance totals — they are the end of the run, not the start.
FAQ
How many achievements does over the hill have?
62. All of them are listed in this guide, with official descriptions where the game provides them and unlock rates refreshed on October 24, 2026.
Why do six achievements have no description?
Because they are hidden achievements in the game’s own data. The official schema returns a name and no description for them. That is the design, not a gap in this guide, and their unlock methods are not stated anywhere reliable.
What is the rarest achievement?
By launch-week data, ...Make a Long Journey — driving 1,000 km — at 0.0%, which means fewer than 0.05% of players. Among named, non-hidden goals, the next rarest are Get Out of My Swamp and Wet Socks (0.2% each), the Algerian passport (0.4%), and the compendium tier (0.5–1.2%).
Do any achievements require co-op?
No official description in this list names co-op as a requirement. Nobody Left Behind — towing another vehicle for 1,000 meters — most naturally happens in a co-op session, but the description itself does not require it.
Does this guide list upgrade prices or collectible locations?
No. Upgrade prices have no reliable published source, and the region guides — not this list — cover routes. This guide covers the achievement system only.
