Start here

If you just started the game, read in this order. Chapter 1 teaches the basics and sets up the story, and the safe codes page saves you from guessing combinations while you explore.

  • New player: start with Chapter 1, Wrenwood, below.

  • Stuck on a locked safe: open the all safe codes page and find your area.

  • Not sure which perspective to use: Grace defaults to first-person, Leon to third-person, and you can switch at any time.

  • Coming back later: this hub is updated as new guides in this column are published.

Two protagonists, two ways to play

Grace Ashcroft is an FBI analyst investigating mysterious deaths among survivors of the Raccoon City incident. Her story begins at the derelict Wrenwood Hotel, where her mother was murdered eight years earlier. Leon S. Kennedy, a DSO agent, investigates the same case from the other side, and the story alternates between the two of them.

Grace sections lean toward survival horror: scarce resources, careful exploration, and avoiding what you cannot fight. Leon sections lean toward action, with more weapons and combat options. You can play either character in first-person or third-person, and switch whenever you want. Grace defaults to first-person and Leon defaults to third-person.

How this guide column is organized

This column follows the campaign chapter by chapter, in the order you play it. Each chapter guide covers the route, the puzzles, the key items, and the points where you can get locked out of an area. Separate reference pages cover safe codes, collectibles, and bosses, so you can look up one thing without reading a full walkthrough.

Editions and prices

The Standard Edition costs $69.99 and includes the full game. The Deluxe Edition costs $79.99 and adds the Deluxe Kit: five costumes, four weapon skins, two screen filters, two charms, the Raccoon City Classic audio pack, and the Letters from 1998 files. These are the launch prices in the US. Prices can change with sales and vary by region, so check your store listing before buying.

If you only want the game itself, the Standard Edition is enough. Choose the Deluxe Edition only if the costumes, weapon skins, and other extras matter to you.

Story DLC: what is confirmed

Capcom confirmed in March 2026 that a story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem is in development. Director Koshi Nakanishi said it will dive deeper into the world of Requiem and will take some time. On October 7, 2026, writer Haris Orkin said at Meadowlark Comic Con that the DLC will further explore the story arc of Oswell E. Spencer, the co-founder of Umbrella. No title, release date, or price has been announced, and Capcom has not confirmed a playable character, a setting, or a release window. Rumors about timing and locations are not treated as fact here, and this hub will be updated when Capcom announces more.

First three guides

This column opens with three guides: this hub, the Chapter 1 walkthrough for Wrenwood, and a complete list of safe codes and their locations. Start with Chapter 1 if you are playing now, and keep the safe codes page open while you explore.

What comes next

  • Wrenwood to ARK: full walkthrough, Chapters 2 to 8

  • All Mr. Raccoon locations

  • All files and collectibles

  • Boss guides

  • Puzzle solutions

  • Endings guide

  • Beginner tips and difficulty guide

  • Story DLC guide, when Capcom confirms the details

Facts in this hub were checked on November 7,

2026. Prices are launch prices in the US, and DLC details will change as Capcom announces more. If a guide here is out of date after a patch or an announcement, the hub will point to the updated version.
