RetroSpace/Puzzles & Codes

RetroSpace: All Codes, Passwords and Override Codes (With the One Code Nobody Agrees On)

Every RetroSpace door code, password and security override we could verify, cross-checked entry by entry - with the contested Nexus Gardens override, the single-source entries and the gaps all labelled honestly in the table.

Guide chapters11 chapters

RetroSpace locks a good chunk of Aurora 5 behind four-digit keypads and security override terminals — and it teaches you almost none of the codes directly. This page collects every code we could verify, cross-checked entry by entry against the published walkthroughs, and it is honest about the gaps: one heavily searched code is flatly contradicted between sources, several entries rest on a single list, and no complete verified list exists yet — including ours. Where a code is shaky, we say so in the table instead of dressing it up.

1. How to read this list (and why no complete one exists)

Most RetroSpace code coverage traces back to one guide family — 9to5gaming and its sister walkthroughs at Into Indie Games, which share text and authorship. That family's master list is genuinely useful, but it is not complete, and it does not always agree with itself. The clearest proof: the ICU code 0451 appears in both of the family's walkthroughs, yet its own codes page prints a Morse-code sequence in that row instead. A list that loses a code its own walkthrough uses cannot be the whole story — and the fan wiki retrospace.wiki openly warns that community code lists disagree with each other.

So we built this table by alignment, not by copying: every entry from the master list was checked against the same family's area walkthroughs, and against FinalBoss, an independent outlet, wherever its walkthroughs reach. Each row carries a status:

  • Corroborated — two independent outlets publish the same value.

  • Cross-checked — the codes list and the family's own walkthroughs agree. One outlet, two touchpoints: solid, but not independent confirmation.

  • Single-source — one list or one walkthrough only. Probably right; treat it as provisional.

  • Contested — sources publish different values. We print both and refuse to pick a winner.

2. Stasis Chambers and Nexus Plaza codes

The opening hour runs on two codes, and both are among the best-attested in the game: the family's list, its Part 1 walkthrough and FinalBoss all publish the same pair. 1477 is the code the station itself teaches you — it sits on a sticky note inside the lockers opened by the biometric scanner, and walkthrough footage shows it scrawled on a wall as well. Entered at the bloody security terminal, it runs the Stasis security override and turns the area's turret friendly. 0937 comes from an audio log and opens the Janitor's Closet, which holds your first handgun.

  • Janitor's Closet (Stasis Chambers) — 0937 — Corroborated

  • Security Override (Stasis Chambers) — 1477 — Corroborated

  • Security Override (Nexus Plaza) — 4712 — Single-source

The Nexus Plaza override, 4712, is the first soft spot in the table: it appears in the master codes list, but neither the family's Plaza walkthrough nor FinalBoss prints a value for the Plaza's password-locked desktop console. We list it because the list has been reliable on the early game — but if it fails, hack the terminal or move on; the Plaza does not hard-gate on it.

3. Nexus Gardens: the storage code and the contested override

Two locks matter in the Nexus Gardens. The Garden Storage Room code 1212 is clean: codes list, Part 3 walkthrough (which finds it in the security terminal's messages) and FinalBoss all agree. The Nexus Gardens Security Override — the terminal that shuts down the Gardens turrets — is where the sources split, and this is the one code in the game where we will not give you a single answer:

  • Garden Storage Room — 1212 — Corroborated

  • Security Override (Nexus Gardens) — 9636 — Contested — see below

  • Security Override (Nexus Gardens) — 5315 — Contested — see below

9636 is what the family's own Part 3 walkthrough tells you to enter, and FinalBoss independently prints the same value. 5315 is what the family's codes page prints, derived there by subtracting paired clue numbers found around the Gardens (9−4, 6−3, 3−2, 6−1) — while 9636 is those same clue numbers read off un-subtracted. One of the two publications is simply wrong, and from outside the game there is no honest way to tell which.

4. Medical Section codes

Medical is where the alignment method earns its keep. The codes list and the family's Part 4 walkthrough agree on the Security Override (2177) and the Quarantine Lockdown release (1234) — the walkthrough finds both on Professor Hasmond's office computer, and 2177 is also written in blood on a Medical wall, hidden until you clean it with the Universe Cleaner. Gameplay footage backs the override up directly: the capture at the top of this page shows 2177 being entered at a Medical override terminal, which answers with a "Friendly" security state. The ICU is the odd one out: both family walkthroughs send you to the Medical reception console for the code 0451, while the family's codes page prints a Morse sequence for the ICU row instead — an internal inconsistency we flag rather than smooth over. The Morgue (2236) rests on the codes list alone.

  • ICU — 0451 — Cross-checked (walkthroughs agree; codes page prints Morse instead)

  • Security Override (Medical) — 2177 — Cross-checked + seen entered in gameplay footage

  • Quarantine Lockdown release — 1234 — Cross-checked

  • Morgue — 2236 — Single-source

5. Security Section and Engineering codes

From here on, the table leans on the master codes list alone — the family's walkthroughs had not reached these areas in the same detail at the time of writing, and FinalBoss stops earlier still. We print these values because the list's early-game entries checked out, but every row in this section and the next three is Single-source unless marked otherwise. If one fails in your run, the hacking route in section 9 is your fallback, and the clue is always somewhere nearby: RetroSpace derives most of its codes from notes, whiteboards and wall writing in the same area.

  • Cell Room (Security Section) — 3333 — Single-source

  • Security Override (Security Section) — 5973 — Single-source

  • Security Override (Engineering) — 0715 — Single-source

6. Security Section 2F: the cipher doors

The second floor of the Security Section swaps plain notes for arithmetic. The override here, 3757, is published with its working: clue fragments 3, 3+4, 1+4 and 1+2+2+2, which sum digit by digit to 3-7-5-7 — the maths at least is internally consistent. The Door to Dahlia (7375) goes further: two clue sites (a bathroom, and a hidden room past a steam pipe in the recreation area) define a symbol cipher — a short stroke counts 1, a long stroke 2, and the two bracket shapes 3 and 4 — and the sums 3+4, 2+1, 3+4, 1+4 produce 7-3-7-5. Both values remain Single-source, but a code you can re-derive from clues in the room is a code you can rescue yourself if the printed value ever fails.

  • Security Override (Security Section 2F) — 3757 — Single-source (clue maths published with it)

  • Door to Dahlia — 7375 — Single-source (symbol cipher, two clue sites)

Not every lock on Aurora 5 wants digits: symbol and cipher locks carry their answers in the room with them. Gameplay frame: 红牙飞燕LUCID (Bilibili)

7. Borealis Garden and Great Dome codes

The Borealis Garden override, 2468, is another worked example: the published logic sets A = 2 and B = 4, then reads off A, B, A+B and A×B — 2, 4, 6,

8. The Great Dome terminal labelled Moebio takes 3123, derived from a colour sequence in which red counts 1, white 2, green 3 and a second red

4. Both are Single-source, and both follow the pattern that defines this game's code design: the answer is a small puzzle in the same space, and the printed value is only ever a shortcut past solving it yourself.

  • Security Override (Borealis Garden) — 2468 — Single-source (derivation published)

  • Moebio terminal (Great Dome) — 3123 — Single-source (colour sequence)

8. Grand Station codes — and the one that changed in a patch

Grand Station holds the densest cluster of locks in the game, including the Police Station pair and the Control Zone pair. All of them are Single-source. The entry that needs real care is the Luxury Security Override, because the correct value depends on your game version. At launch, the lock's clue mixed letters and numbers and the accepted code was 9119; Janitors' Patch #1 (October 7,

2026) fixed the letter-number pairing — the developers' own patch notes confirm the Luxury override was broken and repaired — and the accepted code on a patched game is

1919. The Luxury — Outside door code, 1999, is separate and unchanged; amusingly, it matches the name of the game's hard difficulty.

  • Luxury — Outside Security Override — 1999 — Single-source

  • Luxury Security Override (patched game) — 1919 — Single-source; patch dependency confirmed by official patch notes

  • Luxury Security Override (launch build only) — 9119 — Superseded by Patch #1

  • Police Station Security Override — 9947 — Single-source

  • Police Station Monitoring Room — 0001 — Single-source

  • Control Zone Security Override — 2237 — Single-source

  • Control Zone Captain's Office — 7649 — Single-source

9. No code? Hack it instead

A wrong or missing code never ends a RetroSpace run, because every security override terminal offers the same bargain: enter the code, or beat the hacking minigame. You need the Hacking Attachment, found in the Nexus Gardens on the route to the Head Gardener's Office, and hacks are rated in Skulls — the Gardens turret terminal is a 3 Skull job, the only rating the walkthroughs state outright. The payoff is bigger than one door: an overridden terminal can turn the area's turrets from the game's most annoying hazard into its best weapon, which is exactly what the 1477 override does in Stasis. Broken terminals and vending machines are not a dead end either — a tap from the Power Wrench repairs them, a trick the game teaches on a hand-drawn board and one you will use for the rest of the run.

FAQ

Are RetroSpace codes the same for every player? Yes — every published source treats them as fixed values, and the corroborated early codes match across independent outlets and gameplay footage. Nothing we found suggests per-run randomisation.

The Nexus Gardens override won't accept

9636. What now? Try 5315 — the two sources genuinely disagree, which is why both are printed here. If neither works, hack the terminal (3 Skull with the Hacking Attachment) to shut the turrets down anyway.

Why is the ICU code missing from some code lists? Because the biggest list prints a Morse sequence in the ICU row while its own walkthroughs use 0451 — the inconsistency is in the sources, which is exactly why this page marks statuses instead of pretending certainty.

Do I need codes at all if I have the Hacking Attachment? For override terminals, no — hacking is a complete alternative. Plain keypad doors are different: most want their code, a keycard, or a route around. When in doubt, check whether the lock offers a hack prompt before backtracking.

Will this list be updated? Yes. Fifteen of the twenty-two entries are currently single-source, and the late game is the least documented part of RetroSpace. As independent walkthroughs reach Security, Engineering and Grand Station, we will re-grade the rows — and the Gardens override stays contested until in-game evidence settles it.
