Silver Pines Final Boss Guide (+ the Secret Boss)

The final boss of Silver Pines is the Flesh Tree, and the fight starts on your schedule: it triggers when you insert the third Metal Spike into the Strange Tree, so there is no excuse for walking in unprepared.

The final boss of Silver Pines is the Flesh Tree, and the fight starts on your schedule: it triggers when you insert the third Metal Spike into the Strange Tree, so there is no excuse for walking in unprepared. She hits hard in long melee combos, knocks Red backward, and her scream both blasts you across the arena and stacks Madness. This guide covers the loadout to bring, how her attacks work, what changes when the arena turns red, and the fight's aftermath. The second half covers the secret boss on the Rest route — a chase-and-siege encounter against the Server that most players never see. Spoilers are confined to the endgame and flagged as they come.

At a glance

  • Boss: The Flesh Tree, at the Strange Tree

  • Trigger: Inserting the third Metal Spike — save at a payphone first

  • Core threats: Long melee combos, knockback, a scream that knocks you back and inflicts Madness

  • Key tell: When she vanishes, move to the center of the arena and dodge as she returns

  • Phase shift: When the surroundings turn red, she gets more aggressive

  • Recommended: Strongest firearm, a headshot-damage Memento, a full stock of healing

  • After the fight: Polaroid Negative Memento, a nearby phone save, then Eddie Velvet

  • Secret boss: The Server, Rest route only, behind the Rabbit Hole Bar stage

Before you insert the third spike

Inserting the third spike starts the fight on the spot. Preparation checklist:

  • Save at the nearest payphone. One coin. If the fight goes wrong, this save is also your clean re-entry for another attempt with a different loadout.

  • Bring your strongest firearm, loaded, plus reserve ammunition. The fight rewards ranged damage between her combos; melee range is where her combo chains live.

  • Equip a Memento that raises headshot damage. Boss guides converge on this pick, and this fight is the reason the advice exists.

  • Stock healing generously. She hits hard, and the scream's knockback will cost you the seconds you planned to heal in. Bring more than the last three fights made you carry.

  • Repair your melee weapon anyway. It is your fallback when the ammunition runs dry, and a broken fallback is no fallback.

  • Check your collectible errands first. If you are aiming at Live or Rest, the run's tapes, Mementos and Stars should already be done — the finale is a poor place to discover a gap. The Polaroid Negative, the 25th Memento, is the one exception: it drops from this fight.

The Flesh Tree: how the fight works

The Flesh Tree in her arena: a tall shape under the hanging red tendrils, mid-combo over a crouched Red, with her health bar running along the bottom of the screen. This is the spacing problem the whole fight is about — when she is this close, you are already losing the exchange. Frame from the Silver Pines full-collection playthrough by 友利奈绪大魔王丶 (Bilibili).

Keep distance as your default state; the arena gives you room, and her threat drops sharply when she has to cross it.

The scream. Her worst attack. It knocks Red backward and inflicts Madness, the status the whole endgame has been teaching you to respect. Treat the scream as a positioning reset you did not choose: after it lands, your first job is to re-establish distance and top up health, not to resume firing. Players who rush back in eat the follow-up combo at reduced health.

The vanish. At points in the fight she disappears. Boss guides agree on the response: move to the center of the arena and be ready to dodge the moment she returns. Standing where you were leaves you guessing which side she re-enters from; the center gives you a dodge in every direction.

The red shift. Partway through, the surroundings turn red and she becomes more aggressive — shorter pauses, harder pressure. This is the phase your preparation was for. Spend the good ammunition here, heal earlier than feels necessary, and keep using the same loop: survive the combo, answer with shots, reset distance.

Reload discipline. Your revolver holds five rounds and the reload carries a timing prompt. Reload in the gaps after her combos, never while she is crossing the arena toward you. A fumbled reload inside her reach is how this fight ends most runs.

After the fight: there is no spare choice here

Players running a mercy playthrough sometimes ask whether the Flesh Tree can be spared like the town figures. No guide reports a spare prompt for her, and the fight ends with her defeat. That is by design: the finale's mercy choice is not the boss — it is Eddie Velvet, waiting after her. What you do with Eddie is what the endings count (kill him for Leave; spare him to open Live and Rest).

Do these three things before you walk to him:

  • Pick up the Polaroid Negative Memento. It is on the field after the fight and completes the set of

    25. Leaving it behind quietly breaks the Live route.

  • Save at the nearby phone. This post-boss save is useful — but the save that carries the endings is the branch save from before the third spike. Keep that one untouched, and you can reload it to walk another branch.

  • Go in topped up. Whichever branch you pick first, there is more game after this conversation on two of the three routes.

The three Metal Spikes are scattered across the town's worst rooms. Collecting the last one arms the finale. Player screenshot via Steam Community.

The secret boss: the Server (Rest route only)

Spoilers for the Rest route from here.

The secret boss is not found — he is unlocked, and only on the Rest path. The full key chain: spare Eddie Velvet, take Alice Baker's Gold Ring from her body in the Downtown water, open the Locked Ring Box in the Miner Diner restroom with five Gold Stars for the second ring, then insert both rings into the wall behind the stage in the Rabbit Hole Bar.

Inside the alternate bar. You wake in a distorted version of the Rabbit Hole. Talk to the woman in red, then the Bartender; a passage opens to a preparation room with a Storage Container and free supplies. This room is the game telling you what is coming. Swap in your heaviest loadout: boss guides recommend Magnum rounds and shotgun shells, in quantities that feel excessive — one account describes going in with 24 of each and still needing more on a first attempt. Add healing and a maintained melee weapon.

The encounter. Speak to the Server, the third NPC. When he realises you refused to kill Eddie, he transforms into a giant monster, and the fight starts as a chase: run forward, clear the obstacles and gaps, and do not stop to shoot. The chase ends at a dead end, where the real fight begins:

  • Dodge the falling debris and keep moving between its attacks.

  • Crouch under the long thrusting attack rather than dodging sideways into it.

  • Stay out of the poisonous projectiles — poison pressure plus knockback is the combination that kills.

  • The boss only advances when you hold position near the back wall; when it finally slams down, the floor collapses and a second chase begins, ending at the Miner Diner.

The last stand: the Server in its giant form, filling half the Miner Diner, while Red answers with the pistol. Frame from the Silver Pines full-collection playthrough by 友利奈绪大魔王丶 (Bilibili).

Survive the last stand and the Rest ending completes. Compared with the Flesh Tree, the Server fight is longer and more scripted: a siege with running in it. Budget your supplies for the whole sequence, not just the first phase.

Final boss vs secret boss: which is harder?

The Flesh Tree is the more demanding pure fight: heavier combos, the Madness scream, an aggression spike in the red phase. The Server is the more demanding logistics problem: a chase, a collapsing floor, poison and a long tail of attrition, all gated behind the game's longest collectible chain. Most players will die more to the Flesh Tree and run out of supplies more against the Server. Prepare accordingly — skill for the first, inventory for the second.

FAQ

When exactly does the final boss trigger? When you insert the third Metal Spike into the Strange Tree. Nothing forces the moment; leave the last spike until you are saved, stocked and set.

Can the Flesh Tree be spared? No spare option is reported for her. The mercy decision the endings track is Eddie Velvet, immediately after this fight.

What do I get for beating her? The Polaroid Negative Memento — the 25th and final Memento — and access to Eddie and the ending branch.

How do I unlock the secret boss? Only on the Rest route: spare Eddie, collect both Gold Rings (Alice's, plus the one in the Locked Ring Box opened with five Gold Stars), and insert them into the wall behind the Rabbit Hole Bar stage.

What should I bring for the Server? Magnum rounds and shotgun shells in bulk, full healing, and a repaired melee weapon — prepared at the Storage Container in the alternate bar before you speak to him.
