Best Cyberpunk 2077 Mods for Update 2.5: 24 Checked Picks, Plus What to Skip

Update 2.5 broke the old mod stack and then fixed it within days. This list keeps only mods with dated 2.5 evidence: 24 picks with a post-2.5 version or a page listing 2.5 support, plus the dual-wield expansions born in the first 24 hours, and a skip list for famous mods that have no 2.5 evidence yet.

Best Cyberpunk 2077 Mods for Update 2.5: 24 Checked Picks, Plus What to Skip
Guide chapters16 chapters

Update 2.5 arrived on October 22, 2026, and it changed which Cyberpunk 2077 mods are safe to run. The patch broke the script frameworks on day one, the community bridged the gap with unofficial builds, and the official framework updates landed between October 22 and October

25. That sequence is the test this list applies: a mod counts as a 2.5 pick only if it has a file dated after the patch or a Nexus page that lists 2.5 support. A famous mod with a huge download count from 2024 proves nothing about 2.5. The pool behind this list is large, about 25,000 mods on Nexus Mods, so the filter matters more than the ranking.

Quick answer

  • Install the frameworks first, in this order: Cyber Engine Tweaks 1.38.0, RED4ext 1.31.0, redscript 0.5.32, ArchiveXL 1.28.0, TweakXL 1.12.0, Codeware 1.21.0. Do not use the retired unofficial 2.5 builds.

  • If you only install three gameplay mods, make them Limited HUD, Autoloot, and Cyberware-EX. All three have clean dated 2.5 versions and change every session.

  • Console players do not use this list the same way. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, only the curated in-game mod.io catalogue applies, and modded console saves cannot earn achievements or trophies.

  • Do not install JB Third Person, Let There Be Flight, or the GHXST PROTOCOL quickhacks on 2.5 yet. Their pages still point at 2.3 or 2.31, and the skip list below gives the dates.

At a glance

  • What: PC mod recommendations checked against Update 2.5, plus the console mod rules.

  • Target: players on Update 2.5 who want a stable modded playthrough.

  • Platform: PC (Nexus Mods, Vortex or manual). Console modding is a separate curated system.

  • Price: the mods in this list are free community downloads; a free Nexus Mods account is enough.

  • Version state: Update 2.5, with framework versions dated October 22 to 25, 2026.

  • Last verified: October 31, 2026.

The list at a glance

  • 1. Install the frameworks first: the 2.5 stack that everything else stands on.

  • 2. Interface and quality of life: HUD, looting, backpack, navigation, and hotkeys.

  • 3. Gameplay and cyberware: slots, stealth, survival, stealth kills, iconics, and progression.

  • 4. Appearance, clothing, and photo: transmog, shops, first-person body, and photo mode looks.

  • 5. Vehicles: buy and manage modded cars from an apartment computer.

  • 6. Visuals and weather: lighting, color grading, and weather that actually changes.

  • 7. New for 2.5: dual-wield expansions born in the first 24 hours.

  • 8. Do not install yet: famous mods with no 2.5 evidence.

1. Install the frameworks first

Every gameplay pick below stands on the same stack, so install it before anything else and update it after every game patch. Cyber Engine Tweaks 1.38.0, uploaded October 22, 2026, is labeled for game version 2.5; it runs Lua script mods and provides the in-game overlay, console, and keybinding menu, and you may need the latest Visual C++ Redistributable for it to start. RED4ext 1.31.0, from October 24, 2026, is the script extender that loads native plugins and is the backbone for ArchiveXL, TweakXL, and Codeware. redscript 0.5.32, from October 22, 2026, added support for patch 2.5 and compiles script mods. ArchiveXL 1.28.0 and TweakXL 1.12.0, both from October 25, 2026, list compatibility with 2.5: ArchiveXL loads custom resources without touching vanilla files, TweakXL lets mods change the game database through YAML files. Codeware 1.21.0, also from October 25, 2026, lists 2.5 support alongside redscript 0.5.32 and Cyber Engine Tweaks 1.38.0 or newer, and its own page is direct: if no mod you use requires it, you probably do not need it. Three helpers complete the stack where mods ask for them: Input Loader 0.2.5 and Mod Settings 0.2.22, both from October 25, 2026, and labeled for 2.50, and Native Settings UI 1.97, from October 22, 2026, updated for patch 2.5. REDmod, the free official DLC, is only needed for mods that say so; it is not a blanket requirement. One warning rides with the whole stack: the unofficial 2.5 fix builds that circulated in the first days were retired on October 24, 2026, with an explicit instruction to use the official releases instead. If a guide still points you at an unofficial build, that guide is out of date.

2. Interface and quality of life

Driving through Downtown at night: the default HUD is exactly what Limited HUD and In-World Navigation let you clean up or replace.

Limited HUD, version 2.23.0 from October 25, 2026, added basic compatibility with patch 2.5. It hides the main HUD widgets, minimap, quest tracker, health bar, weapon roster, and world markers, and brings each one back only when it matters: in combat, while scanning, sneaking, or driving, with a global toggle hotkey. It needs redscript 0.5.31 or newer, with RED4ext, ArchiveXL, Input Loader, and Mod Settings optional for its settings menu and hotkeys. Autoloot, version 3.12.0 from October 23, 2026, updated for game version 2.5, with file notes listing support from 1.61 through 2.5x. It picks up loot in view at a key press, skips quest items, iconic weapons, and turrets, and will not run during dialogue, scenes, or scanning. It needs Cyber Engine Tweaks. Revised Backpack, version 0.9.17 from October 25, 2026, updated for patch 2.5, replaces the inventory screen with a sortable spreadsheet view, category tabs, name and ammo search, and mass junk marking and disassembly. It needs RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, Codeware, and Input Loader. In-World Navigation, version 0.1.23 from October 25, 2026, labeled for 2.50, projects holographic arrows into the world along the minimap route, so you can drive without staring at the corner of the screen. It needs RED4ext, redscript, and Mod Settings.

Always First Equip, version 2.2.0 from October 24, 2026, updated for patch 2.5, including first-equip animations for dual-wielded weapons. It brings back the flashy first-draw animation on a configurable chance, 50 percent by default, and adds a hotkey for weapon inspection animations. It needs redscript, with RED4ext, ArchiveXL, Input Loader, and Mod Settings optional. Immersive Timeskip, version 2.2.3 from October 25, 2026, updated for patch 2.5, adds a hotkey that fast-forwards time while you keep watching the world around V, instead of cutting to a static menu. It needs RED4ext, redscript, and Input Loader. Custom Quickslots, version 5.7.1 from October 25, 2026, updated for patch 2.5, adds a row of quickslots for food, drinks, boosters, healing items, grenades, and cyberware abilities, with full gamepad support stated on its page. It needs Cyber Engine Tweaks, RED4ext, redscript, Codeware, and Native Settings UI. Quickhack Hotkeys, version 2.3.3 from October 25, 2026, updated for patch 2.5, lets you select and fire quickhacks with the number keys instead of scrolling the list, and its page states support for the quickhack chaining added in update 2.0. It needs RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, and Input Loader.

3. Gameplay and cyberware

Gold cyberware arms on V: the cyberware picks below change what those arms can do, not just how they look.

Cyberware-EX, version 1.6.0 from October 25, 2026, updated for game patch 2.5, adds extra cyberware slots unlocked through perks or, in its optional override mode, bought from ripperdocs for 10,000 eddies each, and lets you combine implants the game normally keeps apart, such as a Cyberdeck, Sandevistan, and Berserk on one character. It needs redscript, TweakXL, and Codeware. Stealthrunner, version 1.11.2 from October 25, 2026, a small update for patch 2.5, adds optional objectives such as Ghost, Shadow, Pacifist, and No-Touch to nearly every main quest, side job, gig, and NCPD hustle, rewards you with XP, Street Cred, money, and recipes, and unlocks a stealth perk tree including pickpocketing. Phantom Liberty missions are supported. It needs Cyber Engine Tweaks, RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, Codeware, Input Loader, and Native Settings UI. Wannabe Edgerunner, version 3.0.1 from October 25, 2026, updated for patch 2.5, brings back Humanity: a stat that drops as you use cyberware and kill enemies, and falling too low brings glitches, debuffs, and eventually cyberpsychosis, which boosts speed and armor but can bring the police down on you. Sleeping, showering, or taking the new Neuroblockers restores it. Its page offers a Photosensitive mode for its heavy flashing effects. It needs RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, Codeware, and Mod Settings.

Dark Future, version 3.0.0 from October 25, 2026, is a major update for update 2.5 only that needs the 2.5 versions of its frameworks, and its file notes say to uninstall version

2.x completely before installing it, after which a save that ran

2.x can carry on. It is a full urban survival overhaul with basic needs, a Nerve system tied to anxiety, and addiction mechanics, with individual systems switchable off. Phantom Liberty is supported but not required. This mod contains mature content. It needs RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, Codeware, and Input Loader. Silent Silencers and Throwing Knives, version 1.6.3 from October 25, 2026, a small update for patch 2.5 that accounts for dual wielding in some cases, changes the vanilla rule that every enemy enters combat when a silenced shot or throwing knife fails to kill: enemies may still be alerted and search, but you stay hidden. It needs Cyber Engine Tweaks, RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, and Native Settings UI. Extra Iconics, version 2.1.2 from October 25, 2026, updated for update 2.5, is a bundle of 17 new iconic weapons hidden around Night City, sold at shops or placed where you must explore to reach them, with new appearances, visual effects, and original gameplay effects, including a new weapon type. It needs redscript, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, Codeware, and Trigger Mode Control.

New Game Plus Native, version 1.4.0 from October 25, 2026, fixed for patch 2.5, with file notes saying to update every core framework first. It carries over your level (capped at 50, or 40 without Phantom Liberty), attributes, perks, Relic points, inventory, stash, cyberware, most of your garage, and your wardrobe, then starts a new game from rescuing Sandra Dorsett or after The Heist. Its page states saves made on patch 2.0 or later qualify. It needs RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, Codeware, and Mod Settings. Lifepath Bonuses and Gang-Corp Traits, version 4.3.3 from October 25, 2026, a small update for patch 2.5, gives every gang and corporation its own combat flavor through resistances, weaknesses, and damage traits, and gives V bonuses and penalties against each faction based on lifepath, all configurable in a menu. It needs Cyber Engine Tweaks, redscript, and Native Settings UI. RipperDeck, from psiberx, is the one pick here whose evidence is a page listing rather than a dated file: its page lists support for every patch from 2.12a through 2.5. It lets you manage cyberware from the Hub menu just as you would at a ripperdoc, without a clinic trip. It needs redscript.

4. Appearance, clothing, and photo

A photo mode shot of V on a race car: Equipment-EX and Virtual Atelier decide what V wears in shots like this.

Equipment-EX, from psiberx and DJ_Kovrik, is the transmog system most players install: more than 50 clothing slots, an unlimited number of named outfits, and conversion of your existing wardrobe sets on first load. The outfit manager opens from a new Wardrobe button in the inventory or from the apartment wardrobe, and it works with vanilla and modded clothing. Its page lists compatibility with update 2.5 as well as 2.31. It needs RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, and Codeware. Virtual Atelier, version 1.6.4 from October 25, 2026, uploaded after update 2.5, added dual-wield weapon previews to the virtual stores. It lets clothing modders sell their items through virtual shops on the computer in the apartment, which is how most modded outfits reach your character, and it adds a preview window to regular vendors. It needs RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, Codeware, and Mod Settings. Immersive First Person, version 2.2.0 from October 25, 2026, updated for 2.5, with its page stating this version supports Cyberpunk 2077 2.5, shows more of the body when you look down so you actually see your outfit in first person, and adds FreeLook: hold a key to look around without turning V. It needs Cyber Engine Tweaks, RED4ext, and redscript.

5. Vehicles

A pink motorcycle at night: Virtual Car Dealer is the shop that sells modded vehicles like this one.

Virtual Car Dealer, version 2.3.0 from October 25, 2026, uploaded after update 2.5, improved its purchase flow and ownership checks. It adds a car shop to the computer in any apartment, the same way Virtual Atelier does for clothing, and lists every supported vehicle mod you have installed as a car you can buy, with its own price and Street Cred requirement. It adds no cars by itself, so install car mods alongside it. It needs RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, and Codeware. If you want a driving feel change rather than new cars, note the gap honestly: Better Vehicle Handling, one of the most endorsed driving mods, last updated in September 2024, with its author stating the 1.0 and later files support game version 2.0 onward unless a patch introduces breaking changes. That is a conditional author statement from before 2.5, not 2.5 evidence, so it stays out of the recommendation list until its page says 2.5.

6. Visuals and weather

The Night City skyline at night: lighting and color mods change this view first, so test them on a throwaway save.

Ultra Plus, version 10.1.0 release candidate 2 from October 25, 2026, became its main download for both 2.31 and 2.5. It is the lighting and performance project best known for fixing path-traced lights that do not cast, reflect, or bounce as they should, aiming for physically accurate path tracing across the game. That version needs Underware, the team tool formerly called UltraTool, in 2.31 and 2.5 versions, and its file notes ask for a clean install. Its page warns that copies on video sites, code hosts, or review sites are not official, so download only from its own page. It needs Cyber Engine Tweaks, RED4ext, and Underware. Weather Probability Rebalance, version 2.10 from October 23, 2026, updated for patch 2.5, redoes weather transitions so that after every sunny spell you are on your way to rain, acid rain, or a sandstorm, and adjusts durations so moody weather sticks around. Its file notes say to skip time ahead 24 to 48 hours for the weather to start changing. It has no requirements. LUT Switcher 3, version 3.5.0 from October 25, 2026, updated for game version 2.5, lets you change color grading in real time from an in-game menu, with LUT packs, categories, favorites, and hotkeys, plus separate LUTs for photo mode and menus. Version 3 is a complete rewrite, so version 2 packs do not work with it. It needs Cyber Engine Tweaks, redscript, TweakXL, and Codeware.

A Badlands sunset: weather mods are judged here, where a sunny spell can otherwise last up to 15 hours.

7. New for 2.5: dual-wield expansions

Update 2.5 added official dual-wielding only for Power pistols and revolvers, through the Double Trouble perk. Within 24 hours of launch, PC modders pushed past that limit with Dual Wield Anything, Expanded Dual Wielding, and Independent Pistol Controls, extending dual-wielding to shotguns, assault rifles, and sniper rifles. All of them are built on the PC-only Cyber Engine Tweaks framework, so they do not apply to console modding at all. Treat them as newer and rougher than the dated picks above: one modder described the results as janky and wildly overpowered, and melee dual-wielding remains experimental and largely non-functional, because the 2.5 framework was built for ranged firearms. Install them only after the framework stack, test them on a throwaway save, and expect balance to be broken by design.

8. Do not install yet

JB Third Person Mod: its newest build V133 arrived in July 2025 for update 2.3, and its page does not mention 2.31, so it may not work on the current patch until its creator updates it. Let There Be Flight: its newest file, version 0.3.18 from September 13, 2026, is labeled for 2.31, with no 2.5 build yet. Better Loot Markers: version 1.4.0 from March 2026 was updated for patch 2.31, with no update for 2.5. Stealth Finishers: its page still lists support for patch 2.31, with no 2.5 update yet, and the author note that game updates almost never break it is optimism, not evidence. Time Dilation Overhaul: version 2.36 from October 19, 2026, predates update 2.5, with no 2.5 update yet. Night City Alive: after update 2.5, its creator swapped the REDmod downloads for temporary Lite versions 2.3.1 from October 24, 2026, while working through the 2.5 changes, with enhanced reactions switched off for now; that is a partial build, not the full mod. Cyberpunk 2077 HD Reworked Project: last updated in October 2023, with its page stating compatibility with update 2.1 and above; a three-year-old broad claim is not a 2.5 file. Blur Begone: version 2.5.0 from October 22, 2026, carries a changelog warning to expect it to break with update 2.5, so wait for a fix. The GHXST PROTOCOL quickhacks and cyberware: their pages state they were tested on 2.31, and the author states patch 2.5 broke the RED4ext plugins they need and advises staying on 2.31 until those update. Appearance Change Unlocker presets manager ACU and PhotoMode-EX: their pages list 2.31, with no 2.5 update yet. Browser Extension: its latest file notes state it was built for 2.3 and works with 2.31, with no update for 2.5. Untrack Quest Ultimate: version 3.5.2 from October 25, 2026, is its first file since update 2.5 but is listed for game version

2.x, not 2.5 by name, so it stays on watch rather than in the recommendation list. Finally, do not install the old Metro System mod: the game has had an official metro system since update 2.1, and the mod is no longer required.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use these mods on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S?

No, not through Nexus Mods. Console modding runs through the curated in-game mod.io catalogue only: at launch on PlayStation 5 there were 52 mods to choose from, including new quests, romance enhancements, quality-of-life mods, and fixes. Script frameworks such as Cyber Engine Tweaks do not exist on console, so every PC pick in this list that needs them is PC-only by construction.

Does updating the frameworks automatically update my content mods?

No. Framework updates restore the ground content mods stand on; each content mod still needs its own 2.5 file or page listing. That is why the GHXST PROTOCOL mods stayed on 2.31 even after the official framework releases: their own files had not been updated, and their author said so plainly.

Do I need REDmod for every mod in this list?

No. REDmod is the free official DLC for mods that say they need it, and it is the route for REDmod-compatible mods placed in the mods folder with an info.json manifest. Most picks in this list run on the community framework stack instead. Read each mod description: if it does not name REDmod, do not install REDmod for it.

Verification note

  • Version baseline: Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 (Edgerunners 2 Update), free, launched October 22, 2026, on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S; the Nintendo Switch 2 version of 2.5 follows later.

  • Framework versions in this article are the dated 2.5 releases: Cyber Engine Tweaks 1.38.0 (October 22, 2026), RED4ext 1.31.0 (October 24, 2026), redscript 0.5.32 (October 22, 2026), ArchiveXL 1.28.0, TweakXL 1.12.0, and Codeware 1.21.0 (October 25, 2026). The unofficial 2.5 fix builds that bridged the first days were retired on October 24, 2026, once the official releases were out; use the official versions.

  • Every recommended gameplay mod states its own 2.5 evidence: a dated post-2.5 file, or a Nexus page listing 2.5 support. A mod whose newest file predates October 22, 2026, and whose page does not name 2.5 is listed as not yet confirmed, never as compatible.

  • Console mod facts follow the 2.5 patch notes as reported by multiple outlets: a curated mod.io catalogue in the in-game menu, a dedicated icon on modded saves, and no achievements or trophies on console modded saves. The patch-notes platform list for mod support at launch is PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S.
