Update 2.5 adds two side quests that could not be more different: Clampdown, a prison break that hands you a full outfit and an Iconic revolver, and Welcome to Paradise, a slow guided tour of Night City that turns into a missing-person mystery. Both unlock after The Heist, but they unlock differently, pay differently, and ask for different preparation. This guide covers both unlocks, both routes, and both reward sets, with a spoiler warning before the Clampdown prison details.
Quick answer
Clampdown unlock: complete The Heist, complete two gigs for Wakako, then wait for her message, titled as a request from King.
Welcome to Paradise unlock: complete The Heist and reach Street Cred 15, then wait for Aera to contact you. No Wakako gigs are required for this one.
Clampdown rewards: King five-piece outfit (coat, bulletproof vest, glasses, pants, Icon America Dust Devil Utility Boots) plus the Iconic Tech revolver Coronation.
Welcome to Paradise rewards: a guided tour narrated by Richard Night, a missing-person investigation, and a final choice about Haze shard. One walkthrough reports a 1,050 eddie payout regardless of the final decision; treat that figure as a single-guide report, not an official figure.
Both quests are free in Update 2.5 for base-game owners. Neither requires Phantom Liberty.

1. Unlock Clampdown: The Heist plus two Wakako gigs
Clampdown is set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 and features King and his crew, but it contains no spoilers for the show itself, according to the launch coverage. The unlock is short and easy to miss, because the game does not put a marker on your map until Wakako contacts you. Finish the main job The Heist first. Then finish any two gigs for Wakako Okada in Westbrook: launch coverage names We Have Your Wife in Japantown and Tyger and Vulture in Charter Hill as two that count, and the order does not matter. Then wait. Wakako message arrives as a request from King; skipping in-game time helped it appear in launch coverage, so if it has not arrived, skip time and check your phone rather than hunting for a map marker that is not there yet.
2. SPOILERS: Clampdown route, prison sequence, and rewards
Spoiler warning: this section describes the prison mission structure. Clampdown takes V into Night City Prison to rescue Miguel, disable the prisoners Reaper chips, and escape after a boss fight against Darius Bale, according to the launch walkthroughs. You temporarily lose your usual equipment during part of the mission, but you recover it later, so do not panic when your loadout disappears. The key beat is the smuggled package: in the prison locker room, look under a bench in front of the basin area for a duffel bag. Open it, and V puts on King outfit and picks up the Coronation revolver. That package is the whole reward set, not a teaser: the five clothing pieces plus Coronation are collected together, and they remain yours after the escape. After defeating Darius, loot his body for the Access Badge, which the walkthroughs flag as the escape item, and watch for a Perk Shard in the same stretch.

| Reward | Slot and note |
|---|---|
King’s Coat | Outer torso; part of the five-piece King outfit |
King’s Bulletproof Vest | Inner torso; launch coverage reports +25 armor for this piece |
King’s Glasses | Face; part of the five-piece King outfit |
King’s Pants | Legs; part of the five-piece King outfit |
Icon America Dust Devil Utility Boots | Feet; the fifth piece does not carry King name, so look for this exact name |
Coronation | Iconic Tech revolver; separate weapon reward, not a sixth clothing piece; Tech means it cannot be dual-wielded |
3. Unlock Welcome to Paradise: The Heist plus Street Cred 15
Welcome to Paradise has a different gate, and confusing the two gates is the most common unlock failure. It needs The Heist and Street Cred level 15, and it does not need Wakako gigs. Street Cred is separate from V character level, so check that number, not your level, if Aera has not called. Gigs and NCPD scanner jobs both raise Street Cred, so a short gig run is the fastest fix for a player sitting at 13 or
14. Once both conditions are met, wait for a message from Aera, read it, call her back, and agree to help: her sister Haze stole a shard from Night Corp and then vanished, and finding both is the job.
4. Welcome to Paradise route: tour stops, shard, and final choice
The first objective is in Kabuki, Watson, near the Creek Loop fast travel point. Look for a piece of sheet metal standing vertically against a pipe, push it aside, and take the NC Revitalization Project Shard from inside the pipe. Slotting it starts Richard Night guided tour: the tour is presented as a pitch about Night plans for his city, addressed to a wealthy potential investor, and it runs across multiple stops, including a Night Corp stop in Downtown near Halsey and MLK where you take a lift to the third floor and approach the standee. Along the way, read the NC Revitalization Project Identity Cache shard when prompted, and expect the investigation to turn: later stops lead to a bridge in Kabuki, a fight with Militech soldiers, and the discovery that Haze has been killed. The quest ends with a choice about Haze shard and how Aera walks away from it, so do not rush the final conversation: the choice is the payoff for a slow quest, and the payout report above does not depend on it.
Before the Militech fight, stock ammunition and healing items, especially if you have only just reached Street Cred 15.
If a tour marker does not appear, recheck your current objective and the last shard you were asked to read; the tour advances through shards and standees, not just through map markers.
Do the two quests in either order. Neither gates the other, and Welcome to Paradise does not require Clampdown first.
FAQ
I finished The Heist but Clampdown has not appeared. What did I miss?
Almost always the two Wakako gigs, or the wait. Finish two Wakako gigs, then skip in-game time and check your phone for a message titled as a request from King.
I finished The Heist but Welcome to Paradise has not appeared. What did I miss?
Almost always Street Cred. Check Street Cred, not character level: it must be
15. Run gigs or NCPD scanner jobs until it is, then wait for Aera.
Is Coronation a dual-wield weapon?
No. Coronation is a Tech revolver, and dual-wielding is Power-only. Keep it as a strong single gun, and pair Power pistols or Power revolvers for dual-wielding instead.
Does Clampdown spoil Edgerunners 2?
According to launch coverage, no: it is a prequel featuring King and his crew, and it is written to be played without spoiling the show. This guide still marks the prison structure as a spoiler for players who want the mission itself fresh.
