Valheim Exploration, Building, and Crafting Achievements: Sailing, Bases, and the Workshop
Guide chapters6 chapters

The non-combat achievements are where Valheim turns into a checklist you can actually enjoy: sail far enough to circle the world, build a village, cook every dish, catch every fish, and assemble a sword with a fixed recipe. None of them needs a boss kill, but all of them reward playing the whole game instead of rushing the boss chain.

Sailing is the thread that ties the exploration achievements together. The longship is not transport: it is the achievement engine.

Exploration and sailing

AchievementRequirement

I Have Arrived!

Enter the tenth world, unlocks on arrival at the Sacrificial Stones

The Explorer

Travel far in all four directions

The Pathfinder

Travel far in all four directions without opening the map

The Sailor

Sail far enough to circle the world twice

The Captain

Sail that distance while manning the helm

The Treasure Hunter

Discover 10 buried treasure chests

No Time For Snoozing

Awaken a sea creature

The Legends Are True

Sail over the edge of the world

Do The Pathfinder before you get comfortable with the map: it wants the same four-direction distance as The Explorer, but without opening the map at all. Sail with a friend at the helm for The Captain, since it usually pops The Sailor too, and keep a dedicated sailing save mindset: long voyages with a stocked ship beat short hops between portals.

Rivers and coastlines are the training ground for the sailing counters. The open ocean is where the long distances actually accumulate.

Building, comfort, and the village

Swipe horizontally to view all columns.

AchievementRequirement

The Homesteader

Build a house, a roofed shelter with about 80 percent cover

The Architect

Build a village, add a boundary, a second building, and a fire

The Builder

Place 500 build pieces

Mighty Halls

Raise a very tall structure, wood-iron poles hold best

Top of the World

Build something very high up, such as on a Mistlands peak

The Carpenter

Build everything in the hammer menu, make and break to progress

Comfort is King

Reach a comfort level of 20 using furnishings

Spread bases across biomes to speed the 500-piece counter up, and build the tall structure with wood-iron poles for stability. For The Carpenter, the trick is in the name: make and break items to progress through the hammer menu, since the counter tracks what you have built, not what is still standing. For Comfort is King, furnish one room properly with beds, banners, rugs, and a fire, rather than scattering furniture across a whole base.

A village is not one big house. The Architect wants a boundary, a second building, and a fire: plan the settlement, not just the hall.
Comfort is visible in this shot: beds, shelter, fire, and trophies all feed the comfort number that Comfort is King wants at 20.

Crafting: everything, every weapon, and Dyrnwyn

Swipe horizontally to view all columns.

AchievementRequirement

The Artisan

Craft every kind of item

The Blacksmith

Craft every kind of weapon

The Chosen One

Assemble Dyrnwyn

The Chosen One is the one crafting reward with a fixed recipe. Build Dyrnwyn at a Level 4 Black Forge using 1 Dyrnwyn Hilt Fragment, 1 Dyrnwyn Blade Fragment, 1 Dyrnwyn Tip Fragment, 20 Flametal, and 1 Bloodstone. The Artisan and The Blacksmith are the long grind behind it: craft one of everything as new materials arrive, rather than saving all crafting for the endgame, when half the early recipes are easy to forget.

Mighty Halls and Top of the World both reward building big and building high. A treehouse is a good rehearsal for both.

Food, farming, gathering, and fishing

Swipe horizontally to view all columns.

AchievementRequirement

No Adventuring On an Empty Stomach

Eat 500 items of food

The Forager

Pick 250 berries and 250 mushrooms

The Beekeeper

Harvest 500 honey

The Farmer

Harvest 500 crops

The Cook

Cook 100 dishes

The Lumberjack

Cut down 500 trees

The Master Chef

Cook every kind of dish

The Gourmet

Eat every kind of edible item

The Fisherman

Catch every kind of fish

A Catch Worthy of Njord

Catch a four-star fish

These counters overlap on purpose. Eating berries and mushrooms feeds both the forager count and the food count, and cooking every dish also completes the fishing set through recipes. The efficient route is to farm at scale: a real farm with beehives, crop rows, and a kitchen nearby turns all five counters at once, instead of five separate grinds. For the four-star fish, the starting area gives the best odds, and it is pure chance, so fish while you do something else.

Survival and death

Swipe horizontally to view all columns.

AchievementRequirement

The First of Many

Die for the first time

Accidents Happen

Get killed by a tree

That Can't Be an Accident

Get killed by every kind of tree

Obliterated

Stand too close to an explosion

Are you alright?

Die in every way possible

The Survivor

Survive for 30 consecutive days

Two of these pull in opposite directions. Are you alright? asks you to die in every way possible, while The Survivor wants you alive for 30 days straight. Knock out the deaths first, then start a clean survival run so one does not sabotage the other.

A finished base is also a survival tool: shelter, fire, and a bed are what make a 30-day survival run boring in the best way.
Top of the World wants height, and the snow peaks are the obvious answer. Build high, but build where you can also get back down.

The exploration spirit achievements

The same capstone logic as the combat set applies here. Kings and Queens of Valheim, a Gold achievement, requires The Viking, The Hunter, The Artisan, The Master Chef, The Carpenter, and The Explorer, so this article covers four of its six components directly. Child of Odin, also Gold, needs The Pathfinder from this article alongside the combat achievements. Finish the components, and the capstones unlock on their own.

Two honest gaps: the exact height thresholds for Mighty Halls and Top of the World are described only as very tall and very high in the sources used here, so no number is printed. Build taller than you think you need to, and treat a structure that did not trigger the achievement as a prompt to go higher, not as a bug.
