Valheim Late Bosses Guide: Yagluth, The Queen, Fader, and Kall Fimbulbringer

How to summon and beat Valheim's four late bosses, from the Plains to the Ashlands and the Deep North finale.

Valheim Late Bosses Guide: Yagluth, The Queen, Fader, and Kall Fimbulbringer
Guide chapters6 chapters

The late bosses punish everything the early bosses forgave. Yagluth demands fire resistance and constant movement, The Queen traps you in a tight dungeon room, Fader tests every combat system at once, and Kall Fimbulbringer turns your whole journey against you. Bring endgame gear, not hope.

Fader falls in the Ashlands, and the on-screen banner confirms it: The Emerald Flame is extinguished. This is the gate to the Deep North.

Yagluth: the Plains

Yagluth is a colossal undead hand and skull that rises in the Plains. Its Vegvisir hides in Stonehenge-style stone formations, so you may find the altar before the runestone. Place 5 Fuling Totems, looted from Fuling villages, to summon it.

At 10,000 health it hammers the ground with fire meteors and sweeps a fire beam, so fire-resistance barley wine and constant repositioning carry the fight. Come in black-metal gear. The reward is the Torn Spirit, used to build the Wisp Fountain that lights your way through the Mistlands, plus a power with lightning resistance, 25 Farming skill, and 10 percent damage.

Late biomes look hostile because they are. The Ashlands sky is a warning: come with resistance, or do not come at all.

The Queen: the Mistlands

The Queen is the Seeker matriarch and the only boss with no open-world altar. She waits inside the Infested Citadel, a sealed dungeon in the Mistlands. Vegvisirs in the Infested Mines mark the citadel, and the door only opens to a Sealbreaker forged from nine fragments found in those mines.

The first fight costs nothing beyond opening the door. To face her again, offer 3 Seeker Soldier Trophies at the hive seat above the arena. With 12,500 health in a tight, pillar-filled room, this is the most mechanically demanding fight so far, so bring carapace or Eitr gear and healing meads. She drops the Majestic Carapace for the Artisan Press, plus a power that doubles Eitr regeneration and grants free sneaking and poison resistance.

Fader: the Ashlands

Fader is the Ashlands boss, and its arena is a coliseum in the volcanic Ashlands. Its Vegvisir sits in the central towers of Charred Fortresses, and in rare cases the altar can appear atop Charred Ruins. Collect nine Bell Fragments from those fortresses, forge them into 3 Bells, and hang the Bells around the coliseum to wake it.

At 25,000 health, five times Bonemass, Fader demands Flametal gear and fire resistance, along with the combat systems the Ashlands introduced: Adrenaline, Trinkets, and perfect blocks and dodges. The kill drops the Fader Relic and its trophy, and the power grants 100 percent more Adrenaline gain, 50 percent less stagger buildup, and fire resistance.

The Fader Relic is not a trophy for the wall. It builds the Eternal Pyre, the only source of Embers, and without Embers there is no Ember Charge, no Snow Shovel, and no Bloodgold. Fader is the gate to the entire Deep North chain.

Fader is called the Emerald Flame for a reason. The green fire is not decoration: it is the whole fight, and fire resistance is the entry ticket.

Kall Fimbulbringer: the Deep North finale

Kall Fimbulbringer is the eighth and final boss, a frost giant of the Jotun race added with the Deep North at 1.0. He waits inside a dungeon called The Prison, reached through the Aesir Passage. Read the Deep North Vegvisir to mark the passage on your map, but opening it takes a full ritual rather than a simple offering.

  • Find 3 Intricate Key Moulds, buried under rubble in the Winding Tunnels beneath abandoned settlements.

  • Craft a Cast from 5 Bloodgold and 1 mould at a Black Forge, then harden it in the Frost Foundry with Liquid Frost. Make 3 Intricate Keys in total.

  • Open 3 Morkhalla dungeons, descend to the bottom floor, and break the central Malice Ice with a Black Metal Pickaxe. Each one triggers a Jotun invasion.

  • Clear each invasion site, break the Malice Ice structure there, and collect 3 Malicious Blood.

  • Offer the Malicious Blood at the Strange Bowl beside the Aesir Passage runestone to open the way to The Prison.

The Aesir Passage is the last door in the game. The Strange Bowl in the foreground is where the Malicious Blood offering is made.

Inside, Kall is chained to two pillars and breaks free as you approach. He is the toughest opponent in the game, fought across multiple phases, using his chains for wide, hard-to-dodge blows. In one later phase he becomes immune to direct damage and projects aspects of the bosses you already defeated: stop attacking him and defeat the aspects instead. Kall grants no Forsaken Power, which is the exception to the whole chain.

The boss banner leaves no doubt about the name: Kall Fimbulbringer. This screenshot was taken in a Spanish-language client, but the boss name is shown in English.

Defeating him grants Sacrificial Blood and the Crown Jewel. The jewel crafts the Crown of Valheim, which scares enemies off, and taking the Sacrificial Blood back to where you started the game triggers the final cutscene. That is the end of the main progression: eight biomes, eight bosses, one finished journey.

The game says it plainly after the final kill: Peace settles over the world. The Deep North minimap in the corner confirms where this happened.

Late-boss preparation checklist

  • Full tier gear, fully upgraded, not just the new set at base level.

  • Resistance for the biome: fire for Yagluth and Fader, frost for the road north.

  • Healing meads, stamina meads, and a portal near the arena.

  • A second summon set when a fight allows repeats, so a wipe does not end the night.
