How Faraway Plays
Faraway is an endless, procedurally generated, mastery-driven arcade game about a shooting star that creates constellations to stay alive. You connect stars to harvest their energy, extend your fleeting life, and build your score. The rules are simple and the controls flow easily, but the game is demanding to master: every run begins from nothing, in a universe generated in real time around your performance. As your skills grow, you travel faster, score higher on the leaderboards, and reach increasingly challenging regions of space. Taking risks with advanced techniques earns additional energy and points.
Alongside the endless core mode, Faraway includes 16 handcrafted puzzle stages that invite you to rethink its mechanics, discover new techniques, and sharpen your skills. The stages are the structured counterpart to the open-ended core mode: fixed puzzles to solve rather than runs to survive.
Launch Platforms
Faraway arrives on all six storefronts and consoles on the same day: PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, plus PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch
2. The November 5 date was announced by Annapurna Interactive in October, and KeenGamer reported the publisher's press release on October 21,
2026. One timing note: the Steam page still showed the game as Coming Soon when checked on the morning of launch (11:20 UTC, November 5), with no price listed. The launch date itself comes from the publisher announcement, but the Steam unlock may follow later in the day, so check the store page before buying.
Who Made It
Faraway was created single-handedly over more than a decade by Steph Thirion, a game designer, creative coder, and musician best known for creating the cult puzzle game Eliss. Eliss is background on the developer only: Faraway is its own game, a constellation arcade puzzler, not a follow-up or remake of Eliss. Annapurna Interactive publishes Faraway under an exclusive license; the copyright notice names Night Swim, LLC as the rights holder. Annapurna's earlier releases include Stray, Outer Wilds, Storyteller, and What Remains of Edith Finch.
Scoring and Mastery
The score chase is the long-term hook. Faraway tracks your runs on Steam leaderboards, and the in-game readouts show your level, your current score, and the points each constellation earns as you complete it. Advanced techniques pay off in extra energy and points, which rewards players who keep pushing into faster, harder regions of space instead of playing safe.
What to Know Before You Buy
No price had been announced before launch, and Steam showed no price at the morning check, so this article states no price. Faraway is single-player only. On Steam it is listed for Windows only, with minimum requirements of Windows 10, an Intel Core i3-540 or AMD FX-4350 processor, 6 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 or AMD Radeon R7 240 graphics card with 2 GB of video memory, DirectX 12, and 500 MB of available storage.
