Meadgard is scheduled to enter Steam Early Access today, November 5,

2026. Oddiko's chaotic co-op tavern sim and action hybrid puts you and up to three friends in charge of a Viking tavern: hunt and forage by day, then cook, pour mead and serve demanding customers by night, with the Norse gods themselves dropping in for dinner. One caution before you rush to the store page: when we checked early this morning on the US East Coast (09:21 UTC, 04:21 EST), the page still read "Coming Soon" and listed no price, so this is a launch-day preview — the unlock had not happened yet at the time of writing, and no unlock time has been announced.

At a glance

  • What: Meadgard, a chaotic 1-4 player co-op Viking tavern sim and action hybrid from Oddiko, enters Steam Early Access on November 5, 2026.

  • When: November 5, 2026 (scheduled). Status at check time, 09:21 UTC on November 5: the Steam store page still showed "Coming Soon To Early Access" and listed no price.

  • Where: PC via Steam (Windows).

  • Players: solo or online co-op with up to three friends, for 1-4 players in total.

  • Early Access length: around 4-5 months, per the Steam page estimate.

  • Demo: a free demo is live on Steam. The first public demo arrived on October 12, 2026; the demo page covers the opening 5 quests of the main story with 60+ minutes of gameplay.

  • Wishlists: more than 44,000, per the team in October — a team figure from the October press release, not a current verified count.

Still Coming Soon at the time of writing

The date is not in doubt, but the unlock is. Oddiko announced the November 5 Early Access date on October 12, alongside the first public demo, and MonsterVine and IndieGameDaily both carried the same November 5 date in October and on launch day. Two playtests came first, and the team said in October that the playtests gave them valuable feedback to act on during Early Access. What has not happened yet, as of our check at 09:21 UTC on November 5, is the store flip: the page still said "Coming Soon To Early Access", Steam's data feed still listed the game as coming soon, and no price field existed at all. That is normal for a game whose unlock is scheduled later in the day, and no delay has been announced — but until the page flips, treat the launch as scheduled for today, not as already live. No unlock time has been announced, so this article does not state one.

What the game is

The loop is a day-night split. By day you leave the tavern, venture into the wilds, hunt and fight mythical creatures, raid camps, gather ingredients and haul the loot home before opening time. By night the tavern doors open and the real battle begins: cook meals, pour drinks, entertain guests, and stop your customers from tearing the place apart.

The guests are not only Vikings. When one of Asgard's gods graces the tavern with their presence, they expect full bellies and a slaked thirst, or you face their particular brand of wrath. Loot goblins, meanwhile, will try to steal your coins while you work. The store page pitches it as a tavern worthy of Valhalla: build the greatest Viking tavern the Nine Realms have ever seen and earn a place at the legendary feast.

Cook, grow and build between shifts

The tavern is not just a dining room. The store screenshots show a recipe book where dishes such as Viking Platter, Grilled Perch and Mushroom Mash are added to the menu, with ingredient counts tracked against what you have gathered.

Between shifts you grow crops and brew potions that give your party an edge against legendary enemies, and you spend your earnings turning a rundown rest stop into a proper gathering hall.

Village characters matter too: the screenshots show a travelling merchant with goods to sell and a carpenter who will build a new station if you bring him scraps from the forest. Unlocking recipes, weapons, shops, cosmetics, crops and more is part of the progression, alongside meeting townsfolk who carry their own upgrades and stories.

What Early Access includes, and what comes later

The Early Access version is playable solo or in online co-op with friends, per the Steam page. It includes a world to explore with ingredients to gather and creatures to fight, cooking and serving dishes in the tavern, characters to meet in the village, some of whom offer items and upgrades, and character and tavern customization.

Oddiko's initial estimate is around 4-5 months in Early Access, spent fixing issues, making improvements and polishing the game for the full launch. The full version is planned to build on that with an expanded world map, more characters, more ingredients, craftable items and dishes, and more ways to customize your character and your tavern. Two honest caveats come straight from the store page: as the game is still in development you may encounter bugs, and the team will try to keep save files compatible between updates but cannot guarantee that every update will be.

The demo is still the fastest way in

If the store page has not flipped yet, the demo is already there. The first public demo arrived on October 12, 2026, after two playtests, and it is free on Steam. The demo page covers the opening 5 quests of the main story with 60+ minutes of gameplay, including the first region, foraging, combat against goblins, boars and mushhogs, character and tavern customization, and more than 10 recipes to serve. Those are the demo page's own figures, not a measured playthrough. The team put wishlists at more than 44,000 in October, when the demo launched — that is the team's October figure, not a current verified count, and this article does not update it.

Who made it

Meadgard is the debut title from Oddiko, an independent studio based in Gothenburg, Sweden, focused on making games that bring people together. The Steam store page describes Oddiko as the studio backed by the founders of Arrowhead Games Studios. That is background about the studio only: Oddiko develops and publishes Meadgard itself — Steam lists Oddiko as both developer and publisher — and Arrowhead did not develop or publish this game.
