Mycopunk left Early Access on October 20, 2026, and 1.0 is more than a version number: it adds a fifth employee, a new satellite region, a new weapon and grenade, a cosmetic reward system, and a reworked hub. It also quietly changes the maths under your existing builds, so returning players should re-check their grids before assuming an old favourite still works the same way. This guide covers each addition, flags every community-sourced detail, and lists what 1.0 still does not settle.

1. The Mycologist: a fifth employee, unlocked, not handed out
The Mycologist is the headline addition of 1.0, and she is not available from the start. According to player community sources, three guides agreeing, the unlock runs like this: pick the Expedition Alpha special mission in the hub, fight a floating Boss, focus fire to break one side shell, then break the exposed pink core. She lands after that, and approaching her gives a Switch Employee interaction that unlocks her. Do not expect her in the roster before that fight.
Her kit, again according to player community sources, is built around Infection. Her passive Infection builds when she takes damage or uses movement skills: higher infection makes her skills stronger, but too much infection lowers her maximum health. Sporelift lets her hold jump to rise, with a longer charge giving a higher jump, and it also adds infection. Fungal Skewer drives fungal spikes out of the ground to pin enemies, and it can spend infection for extra damage. The same sources put her employee-exclusive upgrades at more than
30. No screenshot in the checked pool was confirmed to show the Mycologist, so no image in this guide is captioned as her.
2. X11-B and Population Control: the new region and the new mission
X11-B is a satellite region added in 1.0, and according to player community sources it is a high-difficulty region meant for loadouts that are already built, not a place to level up a fresh employee. Population Control is the mission type that goes with that idea: according to the same sources it means clearing a high-density enemy region, with a chance of meeting Abominations. The dense swarm in the screenshot below is the honest visual for that kind of mission, and it is captioned only as a swarm, because no checked image was confirmed to be X11-B itself.
For a returning player, the practical order is: finish a build you trust in the older regions first, then treat X11-B as the test of that build, and treat Population Control as the place where wave size and enemy health, both recurring complaint themes, will show up most. A build that only just clears a normal region is not the build to take into either.
3. New weapons: the Diffraction Driver and the Snowball
The Diffraction Driver is the new weapon of 1.0. According to player community sources it is an ion scatter gun: a short-range cone at base, with an alternate fire that charges a wheel, narrowing the cone and extending the range. It is unlocked with resources at level
10. The Snowball is the new freezing grenade, and according to the same sources it is unlocked through X11-B. Both belong to the confirmed-weapon list rather than a claimed total, because a complete weapon count was not verified.
What did not change is just as useful to know. According to player community sources citing studio balance notes, 1.0 did not nerf the community-cited strong combinations, although the Shocklance now leans more toward small groups. If your old combination was one of those, it should still be recognisable, even if the grid maths underneath it has moved.
4. Fulfillments: cosmetics, and a trap to avoid
Fulfillments is an achievement-reward system added in 1.0, and it is easy to misunderstand. Its rewards are cosmetic, mainly hats, and it is a separate system from the 48 Steam achievements: Fulfillments do not count toward those 48, and finishing a Fulfillment is not the same as earning an achievement. If a guide or a checklist blurs that line, it is wrong, and this guide keeps the two counts apart on purpose.
5. The hub and the drop pod get reworked, and Roachard gets a sofa
The 1.0 notes list a hub rework and a drop-pod appearance rework, alongside a small special mission called The Couch, in which you help Roachard find a sofa. That last one is a useful tone marker for the whole update: 1.0 is not only new combat content, it also spends time on the place between missions. The hub wheel toy in the screenshot below is captioned as exactly what it is, a hub toy, not as proof of any particular rework detail, because the rework details themselves were not itemised in the checked sources.
6. Grid and balance changes that affect old builds
This is the section returning players should read before loading an old save. According to player community sources, since 1.0 most upgrade attributes scale with pattern size, and shrunken infusion upgrades are weaker than before. Four named patterns changed: Tumbleweed, Big Fat Doobie, Shock Recursion and Double Shot. In practice that means a build whose patterns were shrunk to fit is not the same build it was in Early Access, and the first job after updating is to open the grid and re-read what each pattern actually gives now.
Solo players get one more 1.0 change, again according to player community sources: solo players face a slightly lower enemy cap at threat levels 3 and
4. It is a small change, not a separate solo mode, and it does not change the advice to learn a build at low threat first.
