Best DayZ Mods for 1.30: 11 Checked Picks, Plus What to Skip

Update 1.30 changed the mod rules: terrain mods must regenerate their navmesh and animation mods had to be rebuilt. This list keeps only mods with real 1.30 evidence, checked against the Workshop ranking re-pulled on October 30, 2026: six mods players feel directly, five frameworks and admin tools, plus a watch list and a removal list.

Best DayZ Mods for 1.30: 11 Checked Picks, Plus What to Skip
Guide chapters22 chapters

Update 1.30 arrived on October 15, 2026, and it changed which mods are safe to run. The navmesh file format changed with no backward compatibility, so terrain mods must regenerate their navmesh, and animation files moved to the Enfusion config format, so animation mods had to be rebuilt. A mod with a huge subscription count from 2024 proves nothing about 1.30. This list keeps only mods with evidence dated to 1.30: an author statement, an update after launch with no fault reports found, or an independent 1.30 check. The Workshop ranking behind it was re-pulled on October 30, 2026, and counts 114,039 items.

Quick answer

  • Start with BaseBuildingPlus if you build bases, SNAFU Weapons if you want more guns, and Survivor Animations if you want new emotes. Those three have the cleanest 1.30 evidence.

  • Install CF first if any mod you pick needs it. Admins pick one admin tool, VPPAdminTools or Community-Online-Tools, not both.

  • Do not install DeerIsle, CannabisPlus, or the Expansion Licensed pack on the strength of this list. Their 1.30 status is unverified as of October 30, and DeerIsle has a reported navmesh fault.

  • Everything here is PC Steam Workshop only. Console servers cannot use Workshop mods.

Read this first: three rules for 1.30 modding

First, a mod is not server-side only in DayZ. Even admin tools have to be downloaded by every player who joins the server; only the admin can use their functions. Second, only one animation-changing mod can be loaded at a time: the Survivor Animations description states the game will crash or behave unexpectedly otherwise. Third, subscription counts are history, not health. VanillaPlusPlusMap still has about 2.5 million subscriptions and has not been updated since June

2020. It is on the removal list below, not the recommendation list.

Mods players feel directly

1. BaseBuildingPlus: the strongest 1.30 evidence in this list

BaseBuildingPlus 2.0 artwork from its Workshop page. The author states the update for 1.30 in the description itself.

BaseBuildingPlus (Workshop ID

1710977250) is a base-building expansion rebuilt in version 2.0 with more than 30 building parts, plus carpets, wallpaper, and plaster. It has about 2,818,000 subscriptions and was updated on October 28,

2026. Its description opens with the words Updated for 1.30, which is the strongest single evidence in this list. Two warnings ride along: the author says the companion BBPItemPack is currently broken, so install BBP alone and remove third-party fix patches, and the older BBP variants that restore vanilla damage were not verified for 1.30 in this round, so they are not recommended here.

2. SNAFU Weapons: a big gun pack with an honest disclaimer

SNAFU Weapons artwork from its Workshop page.

SNAFU Weapons (Workshop ID

2443122116) adds a large set of realistic firearms, with models the author bought or made rather than taken from other sources. It has about 1,590,000 subscriptions and was updated on October 18, 2026, after 1.30 launched, with no 1.30 fault reports found. The download is about 3.66 GB, so budget disk space. Keep the author disclaimer attached: because of the number of combinations, the author does not promise every combination is compatible. Treat it as verified for 1.30, not as guaranteed with everything else you run.

3. WindstridesClothingPack: clothes, with one known flaw

WindstridesClothingPack (Workshop ID

1797720064) is a clothing pack at version 13.5 with author-made models: base layers, a PMK-5A gas mask, cloaks, military sweaters, fingerless gloves, high-top sneakers, layered shirts, a shemagh, a canvas backpack, and more, with ground models, damage textures, and male and female variants. It has about 2,949,000 subscriptions and was updated on October 16, 2026, the day after 1.30 launched. The known flaw is small and disclosed by the author: the shemagh bandit wrap clips with most headgear. The download is about 894 MB. This entry has no image because its Workshop preview is a small logo that would blur at article width; nothing is substituted for it.

4. Survivor Animations: new emotes, and a hard rule

Survivor Animations (Workshop ID

2918418331) adds about 30 new emotes and sitting poses for other mods vehicles, including helicopters, snowmobiles, motorbikes, horses, bicycles, and quads. It has about 1,658,000 subscriptions and was updated on October 19, 2026, after 1.30. The hard rule comes from the author in capitals: it is not possible to install more than one mod which modifies animations, or the game will crash or give unexpected results. If a server already runs another animation mod, this one is not an addition, it is a replacement choice. Several vehicle mods use its vehicle animations, so check a vehicle mod description before assuming it works without it.

5. CarPack: 54 vehicles, honestly a niche pick

CarPack (Workshop ID

3443311258) adds more than 54 vehicles, from off-road and muscle cars to supercars, with its own license plate and crate mods. It has about 99,000 subscriptions, far below the others here, and was updated on October 18, 2026, after 1.30, with no 1.30 fault reports found. The small subscription count is stated plainly so it is not mistaken for a top mod. The download is about 2.74 GB. If a vehicle animation mod is also in play, the animation exclusivity rule from the previous entry still applies.

6. Code Lock: still works, but try vanilla first

The Code Lock keypad interface from its Workshop page.

Code Lock (Workshop ID

1646187754) replaces the base combination lock with a keypad code lock, with configurable logs, raid times, raid settings, and client rate limiting. It has about 4,278,000 subscriptions and was updated on the evening of launch day, October 15, 2026, at 21:01 UTC, and it appears in an independent 1.30 server-mod check. That is a confirmed usable verdict, with a value warning attached: update 1.30 itself strengthened vanilla locks substantially, Badlands adds rebuildable doors and an official digital lock, and at least one community has already removed Code Lock permanently in favor of vanilla digital locks. Try the vanilla lock first. Install Code Lock only if the vanilla lock does not do what your base needs.

Frameworks and admin tools: not gameplay, load them anyway

The five entries below do not add gameplay by themselves. They are the base other mods stand on, or the tools server admins run. Do not rank them against the six above; a server list without its frameworks does not run at all.

7. CF: the base almost everything needs

Community Framework logo from its Workshop page.

CF (Workshop ID

1559212036) is the Community Framework, whose headline job is resolving conflicting RPC type IDs between mods. It has about 4,941,000 subscriptions, the highest in this list. Its update date needs care: it was released on October 13, 2026, two days before 1.30 launched, so the date alone does not prove 1.30 support. The proof is external and consistent: the CF 1.5.9 release is described as the 1.30 compatibility release in independent 1.30 troubleshooting coverage, and it heads independent 1.30 mod lists. VPPAdminTools, Community-Online-Tools, and DayZ Expansion all list CF as required. One practical note from the CF description: installing it means wiping the server first, and the 1.30 launch wipe already gave every server that window.

8. Dabs Framework: the other base

Dabs Framework (Workshop ID

2545327648) is a lightweight open-source modding framework for mod authors and server owners. It has about 3,456,000 subscriptions and was updated on October 21, 2026, the day of 1.30 Hotfix 1, with no 1.30 fault reports found. It matters because DayZ-Expansion-Core requires it, and the DayZ-Editor tool requires it too. This entry has no image because its Workshop preview is a small logo that would blur at article width; nothing is substituted for it.

9. DayZ-Expansion-Core: the foundation, not the game

DayZ Expansion artwork from its Workshop page.

DayZ-Expansion-Core (Workshop ID

2291785308) is the foundation of the whole Expansion family. By itself it brings only a little gameplay, such as safe zones, Expansion logs, and debug settings; the actual play comes from the Expansion content modules. It has about 2,392,000 subscriptions and was updated on October 17, 2026, after 1.30, with no 1.30 fault reports found, and it requires Dabs Framework. Read the companion warning carefully: the Expansion Licensed content pack (Workshop ID 2116157322, about 2,323,000 subscriptions) was updated on the morning of launch day, October 15, at 10:32 UTC, and its description does not state 1.30 support. It is listed here only as a required companion to Core, with that annotation kept, not as a separately confirmed pick. Only Core itself carries the confirmed verdict in this entry.

10. VPPAdminTools: admin tools, pick one

VPPAdminTools logo from its Workshop page.

VPPAdminTools (Workshop ID

1828439124) is a graphical admin tool: teleporting, spawning items, changing weather, managing players and permissions, with a SuperAdmin permission file system. It has about 3,823,000 subscriptions and was updated on October 29, 2026, after Hotfix 1, with no 1.30 fault reports found. It requires CF. Only admins can use its functions, but joining players still have to download it, per the rule at the top of this article. Do not run it alongside Community-Online-Tools; pick one admin ecosystem.

11. Community-Online-Tools: the other admin tool

Community-Online-Tools logo from its Workshop page.

Community-Online-Tools (Workshop ID

1564026768) is one of the oldest graphical admin tools: teleport players, change blood and health, change weather, spawn vehicles, and toggle a free camera, with a modular design other mods can extend. It has about 2,230,000 subscriptions and was updated on October 29, 2026, after Hotfix 1, with no 1.30 fault reports found. It requires CF. The author long-standing note that there may be some bugs is a general disclaimer, not a 1.30 fault report. Same rule as above: pick VPPAdminTools or this one, not both.

Watch list: not recommended yet

Three names stay off the recommendation list on evidence grounds, not on taste. CannabisPlus (Workshop ID 1932611410, about 2,423,000 subscriptions) was updated on the afternoon of launch day, October 15, at 14:18 UTC, without an author statement for 1.30; the only outside evidence is a single 1.30 server running it, which proves someone runs it, not that the author confirms it. DeerIsle (Workshop ID 1602372402, about 858,000 subscriptions, about 11.8 GB) is the high-risk case: an October 22 discussion report states its navmesh is broken and stops zombies from spawning normally, and although the item was updated on October 29, nothing found states the navmesh was regenerated. Under the terrain rule, that keeps it out. DayZ-Expansion-Licensed is covered in entry 9: companion only, annotation kept.

Remove list: stop running these on 1.30

BuilderItems (Workshop ID 1565871491, about 2,978,000 subscriptions) has not been updated since November 2024, and its own description says it is built into DayZ Expansion: do not load it if you use Expansion. VanillaPlusPlusMap (Workshop ID 1623711988, about 2,495,000 subscriptions) is a map-marker tool, not a terrain map, and it has not been updated since June 2020; its subscription count is history. MMG, Mightys Military Gear (Workshop ID 2663169692, about 1,393,000 subscriptions), has not been updated since October 2023, and its claim that its types file will always be up to date is disproved by three years without an update. If any of these is in your server list, take it out before judging whether 1.30 itself is stable.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use these mods on console?

No. Workshop mods are PC only. Console servers run official maps and adjustable mission files, not Workshop subscriptions.

Why is DeerIsle out if it was updated on October 29?

Because the update alone does not answer the specific question. For terrain mods on 1.30, the question is whether the navmesh was regenerated in the new format. An October 22 report says DeerIsle navmesh is broken, and nothing found about the October 29 update states a navmesh regeneration. Until the author or a changelog says so, it stays on the watch list.

Do I need to install CF and Dabs myself as a player?

Only if the server you join requires them, and then joining the server downloads them for you. You do not need to hunt them down separately; the server mod list is what decides what your client loads.

Verification note

  • Version baseline: DayZ update 1.30 (October 15, 2026, free) plus Hotfix 1 (October 21, 2026, PC build 1.30.164200). Badlands is a separate paid DLC and the base game is required.

  • Workshop ranking re-pulled on October 30, 2026, via the Steam Web API: 114,039 items in total. Subscription counts in this article are the October 30 values.

  • Each recommendation states its own evidence type: stated by the author, updated after 1.30 with no fault reports found, or confirmed by an independent 1.30 check. Nothing here is called compatible on a bare assertion.

  • Last verified: October 30, 2026.
